What media player are you using for music?

VLC is great for video but not for music. Winamp has been working fine for me for a number of years but lately, it's been losing my library and its interface never thrilled me.

What media player are you using for music? Why do you like it?

I use VLC in general while browsing the web (listening to my mp4 downloads). I use WMP for playing song lists (mp3 albums) while working only because I haven't figured out how to do that with VLC. I have a pair of Senheiser headphones which aren't bad but my brother sais they suck a bit. (They're decent enough though for the price).

Why would Winamp be better? Is it better sound? It depends on your sound card and speakers doesn't it? I'm not sure what the advantage would be?

What's the advantage though? Streaming from what? What am I missing here?

//Ahh, a radio station. Listening to Judist Priest.
//I used to listen to iTunes Radio stations. Kind of the same thing.

I used to media monkey for my audio files and VLC for video. Media monkey works on Windows and mac (i think), but ever since I moved over to linux for my every day computer usage, I use amarok

Winamp?! Whoa ... takes me BACK! I haven't used Winamp since ... 1998? I remember when you first loaded it, a guy said, "Winamp ... the rest just suck."

I use iTunes because it came with my computer and it works.

^ Thanks for the reminder. I just reinstalled itunes for the radio stations. Grooveshark can kiss my ass. One rock channel there. Ha, what a joke.
On itunes I get tons of channels, not just one. I used to listen to these all of the time. Good stuff Hawk. Thanks for reminding me to reinstall that.

I don't think most people use Grooveshark for its radio stations. Most people use it to search for songs to add to playlists, or to browse other people's playlists.

I stick with Windows Media Player for music. I know my coolness is indirectly proportional to the obscurity of my software, but WMP works great for music. It just sucks for video, which is where VLC comes in. The only issue is that occasionally WMP won't be able to read codecs, but I only have a couple of songs that aren't mp3.

Oh. I've never heard of it so I didn't know. I'm a dino when it comes to these things I guess.

I use iTunes: it keeps my library organized, writes and reads ID3 tags as well as converts them, plays the wide variety of music formats I have: mp3, aiff, wav, m4a, m4p, etc.

I have 5500 songs that I send between iTunes and other software (like VirtualDJ and Megaseg), so iTunes helps me keep it all organized for all the other software to work with it seamlessly.
