C100: What LUTs for C100

I want to get some color grading LUTs. Been looking at Color Grading Central, Speed-looks, etc. don't want to spend more than a hundred bucks. Also at what point will applying LUTs start to noticeably degrade the image in AVCHD?

I use Color Grading Central LUT Utility with a bunch of LUTs I accumulated. The Osiris pack is pretty neat. I also really like using Alastair Chapman's A7S Filmic2 and Filmic3 LUTs with exposure compensation. "3-Strip" "Tonality" "Ascend-Grit" "M31" are some of the others that come to mind. I think many of them were free. You can also make your own with the excellent LUTCalc program.

Hi Nate, thanks for the info. Yea was looking at the Osiris and the ImpulZ LUTs. Then noticed SpeedLooks has a 50% off price. Then I started looking more, and got quite confused with all the offerings out there.

Its gonna be a while before Im capable of designing my own LUT at this point. I'll check out your recommendations...... thanks!

I know this doesn't provide you specific LUTs to use, but check out post #17 for some more general info here:

I learned the hard way over the years (like described above) and used to buy everything and just slap it on. I didn't know what I was doing and the LUTs would ruin my footage by throwing away dynamic range, overexposing, crushing blacks, changing colors, etc.

This is obvious to those who knew this from the beginning, but once I started to use LUTs correctly and monitor them with proper exposure, I found the key to success.

However - if I could go back and not waste the money - I would take the time to actually learn about the cameras I was using and their LOG profiles, and engage in proper color correction/grading with the tools I already had.

I have been experimenting with what you say. I have color corrected my LOG footage and arrived at just about the same place rec 709 arrived at. I use Magic Bullet MOJO and can get some great results. Im beginning to think I don't need LUTs.
