C200: What low-budget camera is best to intercut with C200

Hello there!
I'm looking for a low-budget camera to intercut with C200.
I've watched online some clips where the Panasonic GH5 made a good job intercutting with C200, but now I'm also considering the Sony PXW-Z90 because I've watched online good samples from this camera too, but nobody till now has done some tests about it.

What I like about PXW-Z90 is the compact size, xlr inputs, touch focus like C200, good colors.

I'm also wondering about a camera that has a good stabilization so it can be used without a gimbal, and I believe that both of them got a good stabilization, but I've still not seen some good example about PXW-Z90.

The Canon XF-405 has not impressed me, it seems to have very low quality image.
I'm also not convinced about Canon XC10/15 Cfast camera as alternative.

Let me know your opinions or advices about it!

FWIW- I have the PXW-X70, which is an older version of the Z90 basically, and I have a hell of a time matching colors with Canon (haven't tried to match the C200 yet but it's been nearly impossible to match it to my 80D or a C100).

I think anything with a true LOG format like the GH5 would be a little better. It's possible they added S-LOG to the Z90 but, man, those Sony colors can be a little tough to tame.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but if I were in your shoes, I would take a good look at the 5D MKIV or maybe the Canon X405 (edit- didn't see your note about the X405, that's a shame if it's no good).

Thanks, I've watched this clip made with Z90 for example : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Go2cKnwGij0
It seems to have a good latitude considering it's just 1inch sensor, it has also LOG that could be a good thing.

I'm not convinced too about 5D MKIV, very poor latitude.

What annoying me about GH5 is the autofocus, the Z90 seems to work properly.

I will continue to analyse tests and seeing what looks more good to my eye.

The 5D Mark IV would be the best fit, especially with C-Log.

One of the European Canon channels on YouTube (don't remember which one as it was last summer when I saw the video during the initial C-Log news) specifically said they added C-Log so the camera would cut well with the C300 Mark II.

I was going to echo Dustin, trying even slightly match Sonys and Canons in general is an exercise in futility. The two companies have probably the most disparate color sciences of all of the camera brands. I'm afraid you'll want something Canon to match ideally but even a Panasonic, IMHO, would be closer. I have a test GH5S right now and I tried matching some GH5S log with the some C200 CRL and I suck at being a colorist but even I could get them in the neighborhood. A good colorist could probably get them really close. GH5S/GH5 are handy little cameras just to have also, perfect for b-roll, gimbal and slider.

I mix the gh5s with the c200 all the time (clog3 and vlog). Nearly everyone watching cannot tell the difference between them.

I would say I'm above average- just fyi I generally use film convert to get them to a starting level and tweak with lumetri.

Graham, Please share which color profiles you're using for each of the cameras. Have a shoot coming up where I need to match these cameras but I'm having a hard time. Thanks in advanced!

FWIW, I just did a shoot with the Fujifilm XT-3 for a feature film. Shot F-Log on a gimbal and used my C200 a bit too shooting C-Log 3. A and B cameras were EVA 1s shooting V-Log. Interestingly, the XT-3, just applying the LUT and the VLog from the EVA 1s, matched pretty close right out of the gate. My C200, just applying the standard Canon LUT, is miles from the Fuji or the Panasonics. I didn't edit or color the clips though so I am not sure what was done to the clips, the editor may have chosen the wrong standard Canon LUT, but I made recommendations to the producer to double check the LUT applied to the C200 because the footage was much brighter and less saturated than the XT-3 or the EVA 1s and we were all shooting the same ISO and F-stop/shutter. I really need to shoot some test charts and try to color the XT-3 Flog and the CLog 3 from the C200. But it doesn't have the IBIS that Daniel wants. Great camera though on a gimbal. This is a feature documentary that may get a theatrical run though and they are hiring a pro colorist for CC and grade so I'll report back once a pro gets a hold of the footage to see if they can get it to match better.
