What is your preferred player for mts videos?

Quicktime does not support playing .mts files from my Canon HF100. I use VLC to play the videos on Mac. I am looking for some media player to store and play them on HDTV. Any comments will be appreciatd.

On my Windows 7 box, it appears to play natively in all my players (Media player, etc... of course VLC as well).

If you already have one that plays it, I'm not sure I understand the question- are you looking for another player for it?

For PC, I use Mirillis Splash Lite (free). Check and see if it's available for the Mac.

Cheers,
Pete

for whatever that one doesn't play correctly, I resort to VLC

the advantage of MPC-HC is that it supports hardware acceleration for H.264 and VC-1; the latest versions of VLC are also attempting to do this, but it still has some glitches: I find the MPC-HC implementation to be more robust

BTW: I don't have computer monitors at home anymore, I always use the TV; just hook it up through HDMI (you may have to fight with the overscan settings, if the image doesn't fill the whole screen)

NOt sure what your setup is like... However, VLC, MPlayerX, and Toast Video Player all work fine for me. I changed the file settings to open with Toast Video Player since its light and fast to open. But MPlayerX works the smoothest.
Purchase ClipWrap, and you can change the .mts files into Quicktime files in a matter of mins. (Its not a converter, it just changes the .mts package... so it only takes a couple of mins and you dont loose quality.)
You can buy a very cheap adaptor that changes the Digital monitor out to HDMI and go straight to a TV like its a 2nd monitor.
I have a WD Media Player, which has HDMI out and will play just about anything. Its lightweight and has two USB inputs as well as AV and optical outs.
I freak'in love mine!

SPlayer also plays mts on Mac. The playback and performance on Mac is pretty good. Have a try.You can use NAS to store it and use Popcorn Hour or WD TV as media client for watching on TV. If you want to combine several clips into one for video management, you can try tsmuxer, final mate with no transcoding.
