What is WestFest?

If it has to be in a certain timeframe or type(s) of locale, it could limit a lot of our city dwelling bretheren

That could be, and we may accommodate that -- but we have not said that they may be set in "any locale" and "any time frame." We haven't made anything official until the rules are posted.

Besides, if possible, everyone should check out I Sell the Dead to see what you can do with what you've got. It's set in rural 1850s England, looks completely authentic, yet was filmed entirely in New York City, mostly on Staten Island.

Always keep in mind that your biggest limitation is when you declare to yourself that you can't do something.

This is going to rock. I got some twisted ideas. I gotta get extra creative here because I'm in Tennessee surrounded by trees with change in my pocket. ;)

If it is impossible it can be done. Least that is what I always say.

That's the biggest thing to keep in mind right there. That said, I'm still waiting on the rules - I've got outlines for three different stories drafted up. Two of them are somewhat to very non-traditional, so I'm just waiting to see the official rules to decide which way to go. I am totally pumped for my first fest entry.

Oh man... we had to watch Davy Crocket in school a lot. I used to hate it hehe. I'll make TN work for sure. I'm also going to Hong Kong for the month of May so I'm going to have less time. But... come to think of it... Honk Kong could play in my favor somehow. Muahahaaaaa.

Checked out there site (quite slow) & media, looks quite entertaining.

I wonder what there budget was.

so are repeated complaints about it. the rules have to be carefully shaped based on past festival experience and the needs of the current genre. we don't take this lightly. :)

Just throwing this out there while you're drafting up the rules... would love to see a minute or two added to the allowed length!

This time I have a mic, actually 3, and an actual fluid head tripod so I'm psyched to get some good use out of it this time around.

Shawn you GOTTA be in on this. Nobody does wide EPIC vistas like you. get your butt back in the game!

Brokeback 2: More Back?

lol

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Not sure, I still have vivid memories of tons of users not evening mentioning vistas and going straight to things like "she had eyelashes" "I saw flies".

My participation will probably hinge on whether we have to be in a certain location or timeframe.

It happens. You yourself were just commenting on how the cowboys in LAWLESS should have been dirtier and slimmer.

We're a picky lot sometimes. :)

Just make the movie for yourself and see what happens.

Cheers,

MAH
