C300: What is the ultimate baseplate for the C300? K-Plate? Zacuto? Berkey?

Love our "C300 baseplate" by Zacuto. Top performer. Can only recommend it. We even built a protective cage around it. Check it out below:

I have a Shoot35 FF set up with 15mm rods, etc. The boys at Shoot35 recommended I buy a riser for the FF so it would meet the gears on the lens. Not sure I want to do this as I have my eye on the Zacuto Cshooter. Does anyone know if the distance between the 15mm rods is a standard measure that most if not all manufactures use? Would like to utilize my rods and supports and just purchase the Zacuto Cshooter parts as needed.

Has anyone looked at Wooden Camera's baseplates? They look pretty nice, not cheap though.

What I really like is the Go Shoulder attachment:

I've been trying to find the best option to get my C100 right over my shoulder and as low as possible.

Like this: http://store.zacuto.com/recoil-v2-for-canon-c100-c300-c500/

I thought the Zacuto Recoil V2 was my only option but WC's version looks like it could work really well too.

The WC gear is top shelf and worth every penny.

Erik- looks like I solved my issue for now. I spoke to Kessler support (some of the best) and they said that although they didn't have a C300 in-house, they were measured out the camera plate prior to milling the K-plate and determined a snug fit. What confused me was that their supplied thumb screws (1/4-20 + 3/8-16) were too close together on my camera to allow them to screw down. Then I recalled that when I purchased my short camera plate, I had stripped out the tripod connection on my C300 and had to order a new plate.

Someone recommended a plate RedRock made that worked well, so I purchased it. However, upon further inspection, the Redrock plate doesn't have the safety pin hole that my original camera plate had. This was the reason the K-plate wouldn't screw down. So I then looked online and B&H sells the Canon plate- bingo. K-plate locks down properly onto the Canon plate because pin spacing allows for their giant thumbscrews to lock down.

This still doesn't make up for their short camera plate not having a 3/8-16 screw or even a way to use one, but clearly that plate is just meant for DSLRs- unless you modify it like I did. Anyway, seemingly solves the problem and I think I will grow to enjoy the K-plate.

I'm using the Kessler K-plate with the C300. Only downside is that it is a little heavy and you need an allen key to tighten the rods.

I connect the C300 to the K-plate with two screws. Haven't had any slip, although on my XF300 I only ahve 1 screw attachment and it slips all the time.

I'm a big fan of their quick release sytem and now use it on all my equipment.

For run and gun I just attach a Vocas shoulder mount.

I've tried a variety of rigs and the one I'm using now is the simplest but the best one for me.

I went with the Zacuto Gorilla Plate and Rods to create a light run and gun setup for tripod and hand held use. All seems tight and well made. The ProAim X2 Follow Focus works very well for the price but isn't as practical as I'd hoped. It works well with my 17-50 and 70-200 lenses but It will not work with borrowed shorter primes as I can't move it any closer to the camera. It will have to be mounted on the other side of these lenses in reverse. I also have to remove or losen it to get the camera off my tripod. You get what you pay for i guess..

My Berkey System plate came in yesterday and I'm super impressed with it! It's rock solid and the finish is flawless. It grabs the rods very tightly and there is no spin whatsoever.
Everything seems very well though out from the knobs being small enough to not hit the camera body when you are tightening them down to them including a full sized ball driver for tightening the screws.

(I'll add pictures soon)

Berkey system, for me, Although I'm working on my second BMCC rig here is a shot of my C100 on Berkey gear. I can't say enough good things about it and love the rosettes.

I have a Tilta base plate and customized the rear with a BEC box to hold my Lectro receiver, an Anton Bauer gold plate that powers everything all day, and have the C300 pistol grip where it should be so I can start and stop recording easy. The Tilta plate fits on the Sachtler in a second.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but Angelis, I was wondering what shoulder pad that was on the back of your K Plate?
