What is the cheapest and/or easiest way to record uncompressed from the Canon HV20?

Would Firestore work? If so, how much can I get that for? Also, is there a big difference? Is there a difference in latitude? Thanks

Firestore will not do uncompress. And no, there's no big difference, it will not simply "look" better. Uncompressed footage looks nearly identical to regular footage, but it will key better and give you a bit more flexibility when color grading. And of course you'll need some serious computer hardware to work with uncompressed.

Cheapest way is probably the Black Magic Intensity card, but that requires you to be tethered to the computer at all times. In fact, the only known solution that doesn't do that runs in the neighborhood of $5000 and isn't even out yet.

Geez. Well, that certainly sucks. I was actually hoping for more flexibility for grading and possibly better keying. What else do I need, especially minimum specs from a PC to make it work?

It's not uncompressed, but a huge step in the right direction is the flashNano from Convergent designs. it takes in HDMI and allows you to record at 25/50/100/160/200 mbits/sec Mpeg2 and is much more manageable than uncompressed. At 100Mbs/sec you're hard pressed to see a difference between the recording and the live output even on a pro monitor.
