What is everyone using for a case?

For now a Think Tank Glass Taxi has fit the bill - enough room for a spare battery, LED light, and a couple of spare lenses.

good thread. i nabbed a used 16x9 case for 65 bucks (220 new), tons of real estate even with the af100 on rails with FF and matte attached. kinda befuddled about the dividers provided, might use some plug foam to do it myself. will post pics of the full setup when done

here are my two. 1560 and 1650. spots left over for more lenses this summer and mattebox in the other =]. the one photo shows the shoulder mount out, i made a trap door type layer to utilize the space in the second layer of foam which i use for accessories such has allens, chargers, batteries etc. this eliminated another bag which was a plus for a one man crew. _MG_8270.jpg_MG_8272.jpg_MG_8271.jpg

edit-my apologies for the sideways photos.

Using one big case:

It's a slight pig to carry around, but has wheels and can leave the camera built up so I don't have to setup every time. It's the storm case: IM2975

I use a KATA 207 back pack as I travel a lot. It just fit into the overhead compartment on most bigger planes, even with my 15" Mac inside.
I transport the camera with the 20mm Pancacke on.
The bag also contains:
Oly 14-35mm
Canon FD 50mm
Canon FD 100mm
Lumix 7-14mm
2 Extra batteries
Charger
Bebop Foxi remote focus
Gopro with suction mount
Power brick
15" laptop
2 Hard disks

I was amazed what I actually managed to fit into this backpack
SD card holder

Using the pelican 1650 with dividers. It's great, holds all my accessories, lenses, backup cams, etc

If you use sealed cases like Pelicans and Storms make sure you get very disciplined in your use of dessicant packs. When you close the lid on your case you are locking in mositure. It cannot evaporate but it CAN condense and it does.

These ones here are reusable...

...you fire them in the oven for a couple of hours after they are saturated with water. Good to have a few on hand with "good ones" in ziplock baggies ready to deploy when the one in use gets soaked. Technically you should have 2 of these packs in a Pelican 1650 although if you carefully monitor them you can get away with one.

I know of more than a few people who have ruined their cameras from storing them in Pelicans when the circuit board connectors got fired from moisture.

Glad you mentioned this. I've been using Pelicans for years, but have never thought about this. Thanks!

Abel has just designed a pair nice simple shipping cases for the AF100 and the F3 (that is to say, two cases, one for either camera). The cameras will fit with a riser base for lightweight rods, such as the Hot Rod Tuner kit on the AF100. With the riser off there is an included plank of foam to fill the space.

The cases will be in stock soon and up on our website.

Any more news on that?

It takes me 5 hard cases to run my AF102 in basic "production mode".

Camera Case with AF102, follow focus, baseplate, mattebox, batteries, cam cables & cam accesories
Lens Case - 14 lenses(see sig), adapters , glass ND filters, polarisers and color / gs charts
Audio Case - radio mic units, shotgun mics, cables etc
Monitor case - Panny 1700 HD and cables
DV Miscellaneous Case - power cables, chargers, batteries, mains power splitter boxes, clamps , mounts, tape, tools......

Dont know how I could work with much less ( except I drop the audio case when I have a true recordist on the job)

I have spent a huge part of my life lugging camera kit in and out of studios, locations and vehicles.

I have been using a Kata OMB-74 which is great http://www.calumetphoto.com/eng/product/kata_omb_74_one_man_band_bag_small/kv0201

I have just found a fab bag for gear in my local DIY warehouse (B&Q here in the UK). It's a semi-rigid tool bag branded JCB & in their distinctive yellow & black livery. It has a couple of dividers & just needs a bit of extra foam or other padding. It has a metal base & a detachable holster for saw or other weapon. Best of all it costs less than £40 ($67) http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?isSearch=true&fh_search=0000005263790&x=26&y=10

What case are you using for your AF102 shooter?

Thanks

For the camera...a pelican "style" case 18"x 22" x 9". I custom made the insert to fit the contents.

Cant recall the brand but its the equal in construct and quality of all my other Pelicans

i have just bought the - Lowepro Magnum 400 AW Shoulder Bag - i got it in local store, for some very frick reasons i got it very cheap like 130 usd, and it was the store where usually everything is 30% more expansive then in other local stores. after checking online i did not find any cheaper then 200-250 usd, so i got it right away....

its maybe a fatty , but af101 is also not standart size, short but fat...... and i can put camcorder inside bag with mic and lens on!!! also extra space for 3-4 lenses , or 3 lens with something extra things, + place for charger, and i am not even talking about side pockets, also if i would have a mate box - it would fit i believe, also i believe its even possible to manage and put a 15,4` laptop on top.....
