I see some folks having some issues with the c100 ninja combo, I think we need a thread that can share what cable we are using, what hard drive and any past issues and how they were resolved

I use the apple thin hdmi
sandisk extreme ssd
no issues in 3 months

Not a direct answer but there have been a few threads about that subject over the past few months. There is a locking screw position on the camera for security. Canon also has a free training video on it.

Gefen Mino Lok 3" hdmi cable. Crucial M4 256gb SSD and Western Digital Caviar Black 500gb 7200rpm HD.

less issues with new cable and SSD.
Lots of skippy with other cables and HD combo.

Edit: I used the Ninja - Crucial SSD - Gefen HDMi combo yesterday and had no skips at all.

There are also coiled HDMI's available. Look them up. seems the easiest way to keep them organized, yet flexible. The straight ones either hang in the way, or are tide down with limited adjustments possible on the fly.

Hyperthin cables and TravelStar 500gb Hard drives (formerly Hitachi now Western Digital subsidiary).

No problems so far, but only two jobs.

By way of an update, I shot a seminar this morning which lasted nearly 90 minutes and I'm happy to report that the Ninja 2 worked flawlessly. I am using the Gefen Mono Lok cable and a Crucial M4 256gb SSD. It recorded it in one take.

risky.. but me too I always feel nervous when recording long takes, I always record to the sd card on the camera as well as the ninja just for backup
glad it went great

I see some folks who use hdd and ssd's, what are the pros and cons to each? I know that the hdd is more likely to skip if heavy motion is present but my ninja came with a ssd and I never looked into it...maybe hdd are a better option since they are cheaper?

I rented a Ninja to try it out and used a spare HD that I'd taken out of a laptop. It was on the approved list but it shut down a couple of times during a job. Don't know why. I think it may be because of the heat. The drive was new and the camera was locked down and not moving. But it was a long take.

I know but living on the edge is my middle name! ;)

Seriously I was using my SD cards in my 550d which was being used as a second camera for closeups etc. The C100 was locked down.
