Hi
Can anyone tell me what happens when the battery dies in the middle of a shot on the 7D? Do you lose the ENTIRE shot?
That seems to be the case in my experience unless something else happened while shooting an interview recently. Battery died and NOTHING was recorded....didn't think this was possible. Is it possible a partial file was saved but I simply can't see it?

Yes, this has to do with the way files are written and allocation tables.
It is entirely possible the data exists, but the FAT system does not report a file containing it since it crashed before finalizing.

The question is, how does one recover such information. I have some limited experience recovering corrupted information on computer drives, but I've never done it to a CF card. I've heard good things about this software:

Might be able to recover your missing data. Good luck!
