What happened to Disjecta's thread with XH-A1/HVX footage comparison?

There was finally a thread with some fairness in comparing the 2 cameras side by side, with footage. It was fair and balanced, and not at all biased. Why is it gone?

Usually if a thread is "closed", it stays up but is inaccessable. Man, either there is a glitch or a moderator took down information that he didn't think people should see.

Which is it?

I deleted it because it's a thread that's similar to every other versus thread. It turns into a trash talking discussion. It's gone because we would rather focus on encouraging people to get the best from their cameras. The differences between the HVX and A1 have been beaten to death.

So please, focus on using and getting the best from your camera. Techniques and tips discussions are cool, but versus threads always seem to turn into pissing contests. We're trying to cut down on that.

(this is a new one, but basically it's aimed at trying to cut down the amount of whining/complaining/dead-horse beating that occasionally happens, which brings negativity to all those it touches. Complaining and beating dead horses is like urinating in the pool -- it may make you feel good, but it kind of ruins it for everyone else.)

I think that was a mistake to delete that thread. I think there are a lot of people on this board that love to see footage and different comparisons. I believe that you want to know the pro's and the con's of your camera or any potential future camera that you may purchase. I think while it is important to be respectful and courteous it seems odd that his post (which put the A1 in a favorable light) was deleted and other posts that have put the HVX in a more favorable light have not.

As I already mentioned, the thread was deleted because it devolved into personal attacks and trash talking. While comparisons are important, there is a ton of very good HVX and Al footage on this board. The problem with versus threads is that people accept them as fact, when in reality everyone has different camera needs. There is no conspiracy at work here, just an attempt to keep things civil and positive.

That had nothing (NOTHING) to do with it. Had the thread remained respectful and courteous it would still be here and open.

Again, he's certainly welcome to post his findings in a new thread if he wishes. But if that new thread heads in the same direction as the old thread it'll be moderated as well.

And by the way, private messages were sent, guys -- this isn't some random out-of-the-blue thing. Disjecta even wrote back to me after I explained why I closed it and he said "yeah, I could see it was headed that way." And he has since opened a new thread to show his footage.
