i talked to the guy that made this video he said that he got the colors by saturating it and using filters. but i forgot to ask him what kind of filter he used. what filter do i need to make the colors look more colorful like in this video.

Did you try messing with a saturation or procamp filter yet? you can make stuff brighter and more colorful with those possibly.

PS where in NJ are you located?
 
Ditto on the circular polarizer.

You can see the angle roll off in the shot that starts pointed towards the sun.

Not everyone's a Tiffen fan but I've had luck w/ mine.....

If you're a filter-snob, there's always Heliopan @ $185

Also, some people also don't care for Hoya but their Moose @ $99 is also a warming circular polarizer. Just don't forget to white balance before you put it on.
 
I always use B&W filters because I'm a glass snob. Why spend serious cash on great lenses and in-camera optics only to put a $15 piece of junk in front of it?

A good polarizer is an invaluable piece of equipment.
