I'm using premiere cs4 and work with streamclip quicktime files which are something like 1 gig per minute. What should I output final video to and keep quality?

My videos wont play in a theater but I want them to play nicely on a 50 inch HDTV. I tried MPEG 2 but it looks compressed.

Any advice?

For final work that I want to use for playback, I use H.264 in a .mp4 container. I make sure the H.264 profile is playable on my xbox 360 and PS3 so its easy for me to playback just on a USB stick on either my xbox or PS3 which is hooked up to my HDTV. In addition, all the profiles supported by the consoles are also supported by windows media player and quicktime so in essence the files are PC/Mac/Xbox/PS3 compatible. For H.264 final encoding, I use the open source x264 encoder which isn't something I would recommend for everybody but its the best H.264 encoder I've ever used compared to whats available from Apple and Adobe. A lot of other free encoders are based on x264 code but I find that I get the most flexibility using original x264.

For archival I would use very high quality MJPEG so I can work in either windows and OSX.
