Hello I am wondering which editing system to buy, I am unsure which software to throw my money on. Which do you think has the best quality, ease of use, and everything else that you would need. Thanks

There are MANY systems that have great quality, and ease of use.

1.) Do you have a Mac or PC?
2.) What camera are you shooting on.
3.) What is your budget?

Answer my questions and I'll answer yours.

Thanks for replying, I have worked with Final Cut a little bit and I liked what I saw but it wasnt my Mac. I have a PC, I plan to shoot on the XH-A1, and my budget is from the nothing-around 1000 range. I was thinking about Vegas but I do not know the quality of it and if it works well with Canon products. Also I think I might need a higher powered cpu to edit a film. Right now im using a HP laptop which I dont think would cut it. Anyway please respond and thanks again.

Take a look at SpeedEdit from Newtek. It works great with the A1 and is easy to use. Vegas also works well with the A1. You can get a free trial of Vegas so you can try it on your HP. I have used Premier Pro CS3, Edius Pro 4, Vegas 8 Pro, and SpeedEdit...all with the A1 and other Canon cameras. Currently SpeedEdit is my favorite. I jump to the other NLE's when I need to do something that SE can't.

Vegas is good, but learning FCP was far easier IMO. my partner just bought a G5 Dual with FCP already installed for $1300.00 on craigslist. Look around if FCP is the route you decide to go.

I bought Final cut Express a couple of weeks ago, very easy to use but I now wish I'd bought Final Cut Studio......

If you buy Final Cut Pro enroll for a class so you get the student discount, Your price will go from $1,300 to $650.
