Okay I know driftwood for the gh2 increases the bit rate of the camera. But what does Q scale do for the t2i? Does it improve the quality or make it any sharper?

increases bitrate, but has little actual effect on image quality
I love magic lantern, I never change Q-scale from its default value, which is something like "do nothing"
(actually, its most useful purpose seems to be to reduce bitrate so you can record more to your card or without stopping, albeit at reduced quality)
