What did I touch?

I was messing around with the t3i and must have hit a button or something? When it is in video mode I can still take photos also and before hand when I would touch the button to focus it would focus but now it just takes a photo and if I hit the record then it does video and I'm sure this isn't right? Also I noticed that when I'm recording my record light is on but also down on the far right hand corner near the trash button there is a red light flickering during recording. I don't remember seeing that before - Any ideas? Thanks

Go to movie mode (on the main dial).
Push the menu button.
Select the left most 'drop down' button.
3rd down says "AF w/shutter button during *movie icon*
Select that and enable.

You should try to not use auto focus though; it sucks.

Thanks - is the red light on the far right bottom corner suppose to flicker during record?

Do you mean the low battery warning? Thats about the only thing down there.

Have a look at your manual, page 146, to confirm which light it actually is.

That light under the trash button flashes when ever you are recording video. Mine has always done that and is an easy way to see if you are recording or not.

That light shows card read/write activity. It will be active as you are recording because it is writing the files to the card.

Thanks guys. I just didn't remember seeing it before or really noticed until yesterday.
