What deck for xha1?

just pulled the trigger on an xha1. Still a little in shock after pushing the checkout button. So what do you use for a deck with your xha1? I'm assuming you can't use a consumer sd cam. thanks for any recommendations.
 
None apparently. I had the same question 2 months ago. Maybe thats changed now, but I haven't heard of it. People are using the Canon HV10 to capture with. Hope it helps.
 
HV10? Do you not mean the HV20?

personally, i wouldn't worry about it too much. Don't you dare spend any money on a deck as tape is going to be a thing of hte passed very shortly. I wouldnt even spend the thousand on the HV20, save the money for the next step in camera. Use your A1 to capture. You're not doing significant damage to your heads, as long as you dont review the footage through the camera while your fast forwarding or rewinding.
 
You can get a used HV10 for around 500$ works like a charm for me. the Firestore is a bit more than double that, so I think tape will have to work for me until the head wears out. Good luck.
 
I also bought an HV20 from BH recently for 800$ for family shooting as well as some short film works. Fairly cheap if you ask me, great camcorder.
 
thanks. know i asked in another thread, but what tapes are you using. the maxell's hd tapes are half the price of the sony. But I don't want to skimp on an investment this large. So what brand do you like, and where do you buy them? thanks.
 
i dont ever buy hdv tapes, and dropouts are rarely if never an issue for me, unless its reused tape.seriously, just regular maxells

I figured I would use the best, just to be sure. Although Panasonic Pro or Master tapes are wonderful. I use the Canon HDV tapes but those are pretty expensive and I get them from B&H. I do agree though it's not the biggest deal if you don't use the HDV tapes, they are essentialy the same.
 
good info, thanks again. hey what tripod are you guys using. I need to pick one up. BTW, I bought the rode nt1 for a shotgun. Was that a good choice? just trying to get a basic setup so I can get going. thanks.
