AC130: What causes this?

I've wondered this for a while. I have always called it "ghosting", but from searching through and finding threads on it, I think that ghosting is something different from what I'm talking about. It's difficult to put it into words, so I put up part of a screen grab from an AC160. It's from one of the regulars here from an auto focus test. I hope you don't mind!! It happens with movement. I kind of think of it as looking like interlace artifacts, with the object that is moving caught between the two fields in two different locations. But just without the interlace lines and fields since it's progressive.

I had this issue with my HDV camera sometimes. But I've never seen it happen with my GH2 or AF100. I think it may have to do with some combination of framerate and shutter speed. Unless I was doing slow motion, I have always shot at 1/60 with the GH2 and AF100, and pretty much only at 24p. The last time that I remember having footage like this with my HDV cam, I know that I was shooting at 24p (I think it was referred to as 24pN, which was in a 60i stream to miniDV tape) at 1/48 shutter while outdoors with only natural lighting.

So now that I've been looking into getting an AC130A and looking at footage from it or the 160, I am seeing this with some frequency. Is it something inherent to this type of camera? I.e. the three chip zoom camera vs. single sensor cinema camera. Does it only happen at 24p? What are the variables and how does one avoid it?

Thanks!!

I don't see this on my AG-AC160A. Most of what I do is 1080/24p with shutter OFF (1/60).

Actually, it was a test video that you had posted that you shot. I didn't mean to single yours out. I had seen it with several videos on Vimeo and kept meaning to post something to figure it out. When I was looking the the footage section of this forum, I came across your post and decided to go ahead and make a thread while I was on here.
