What can I do without CF card?

I've finally ordered my 7D at one establishment and my card from another.
I'm expecting my 7D to arrive a few days prior to the card. Once i have powered up the battery will the 7D allow me to do much without a card.

Obviously even a noob like me understands I cannot record anything but I imagine I could at least look through the menus and maybe even see what my shots might look like either through the viewfinder or screen. I'm new to photography and anything I can fiddle with and learn even prior to having the card would be a bonus.

I do have a CF card lying around somewhere. It is fairly old and definitely in the MB not GB range. Have no idea of the speed but probably slow. Question is can it do any harm if I stick it in the camera if I eventually locate it?

Fairly silly questions I know but I'll want to fire it up as soon as that battery is charged.
 
You can view the menus, and take a shot that will show on the viewfinder. you can set it on hold in the menu. Yes you can use a mb or gb card you will have to lower your quality.

you can look pretty with the camera standing infront of the mirror :lol:
and take pictures of you with it with another camera
 
You can go to Walmart and but an 8 gig card to hold you over.
They are like $40, and for me it has worked fine.

I do have on order 2 more 16 gig UDMA, but untill they get here, I have been doing some tests with the 8 gig Ultra card from Walmart.
