The above is an understated of a 1st Concerto as I've ever heard. Usually, it's performed with a lot more gusto a la Rubenstein, Horowitz, Richter, Gilels, Kissin.
Oh, I see. I'm new to Tchaikovsky.
Thank-you. I see I'm in the right room then. Yes, much more dynamic.
-Thank-you!
I think it should be a goodbye with nostalgia and a bit of naughty remembrance, not, as we hear here, a funeral.
I saw that one but tried to find something with a cleaner sound/more recent date of recording. But, I admit, I am a Horowitz fan!![]()
Ah, Opus 10, no. 3, very nice! The piece Rubinstein never recorded (he claimed it was too hard - I don't think anything was too hard for Rubinstein -I saw that one but tried to find something with a cleaner sound/more recent date of recording.
Kissin is a modern virtuoso. Horowitz is one of the all time greats. Their styles are very similar - traditional Russian school dramatic with a lot of power. Horowitz had more in his prime (but not as much as Richter).
I'll see your Gould and raise you a Gilels....Going back even more in time, to the baroque, with Bach. This piece is exceptional and performed by the analyst Glenn Gould...
