What are you listening to now ?

How about an Italian classic with an American evergreen:

I recognize the actor in that one, Marcello Mastroianni. Seen him in many films. One with Nastassja Kinski as well (Stay as you are). He's very young here. :)

I love the diversity in this thread.

Here's a cool video.
Most of us Canucks in Ontario have seen this video from a few weeks ago.
For my friends from around the planet that haven't yet:

Ah, the Franco-Italian mood?

OK, it's mostly Franco ... some of the greatest hits from 1950' and 1960's.

Yes those chansons are classics!

And how about Gilbert Bécaud - L'important C'est La Rose:

And of course Charles:

As a side note to above - Joseph Ira "Joe" Dassin was a Brooklyn born and Pacific Palisades/Paris raised son of director Jules Dassin. Joe died in 1980 at the age of 42 on his way to Tahiti and is buried at the Hollywood Cemetery (Jewish section) next to his grandparents. Jules passed away in Greece (second marriage to Greek singer Melina Mercouri) in 2008 at the age of 96.

So young.
He had an irregular heartbeat but didn't cease touring and died from a heart attack. Joe was one of the biggest non-English speaking stars of the 1970's. The catch was that he spoke English perfectly.

Another interesting thing about Joe was that, all across the world, he was known by his French "name", Dass-uhn. In the US, he was Dass-een while his grandfather real name was Russian/Ukrainian Da-sihn or Da-sheen.

I keep coming back to Vulfpeck's Dean Town. Dat bass tho...

This is some funky goodness. Betcha Jaco Pastorious looms large in that bass player's development? You don't often see a drummer doing kick bass with his left hand and handing off hi-hat duties to a friend, pretty funny.

Very cool.

puredrifting,
I have a couple of first hand Jaco stories that are both sad and wonderful. Way too long to go into here, but I will say the man had a very sweet soul. Absolutely the best bassist in my lifetime, unlike any other.

I was just going to say and you beat me to it.

The first one off YT but a legend.

I LOVE the sound of a jazz fretless. Gawd, beautifull.
--And I hope I'm not the only one thinking he may be a bit wired there.
