what adapter for Zeiss distagon lenses?

I happen to own the Zeiss 50mm t1.4, 85mm t1.4, and 35mm T2.

I used them with a Redrock Micro and HVX200 that I since sold.

I kept my Zeiss lenses and now that I have a GH1, I don't know what adapter I would need.

I also happen to have several Nikon lenses for a Nikon D700.

Which way should I go? Zeiss or Nikon? I got great results out of both but not sure which (Zeiss or Nikon) work better with the GH1?

Thanks so much for any advice / help you can give me.

Zeiss don't have their own standard mount, they can be ordered with Nikon, Canon and a few others so which one do you have? Hard to say what adapter you should get without that info.

Hi, thanks.

I have the:

• Zeiss Planar T*1.4/85
• Zeiss Planar T*1.4/50
• Zeiss Distagon T* 2/35

I also happen to have these Nikon lenses for my Nikon D700:

The last one of course being for macro photography I used to do in the past.

Is it possible that the Nikon adapter could fit both Nikon and Zeiss? Sorry, I'm quite new to all this. Thanks very much for any advice you can give me.

You still don't say what mount your Zeiss lenses have but if they are of the ZF variety then yes, they are Nikon mounts and indeed a Nikon adapter will work. The last Nikon you show don't have a manual aperture ring so for that you need a Novoflex adapter with added aperture control. ciecio7 on eBay have passive adapters at a good price and is said to add a version with aperture control very soon.

Just a note about adapters, isn't it cheaper to buy as few micro 4/3 adapters as possible, because they are so expensive, and then buy other cheaper adapters for other mounts to stack on?

For example, I have multiple adapters from different mounts to Canon EF, and now I have a GH1. I was planning to buy one adapter for EF to m4/3 and then use all my Canon adapters on top of that to get other lenses onto the GH1. The seller of the adapters states this will work.

I realize this specific example will not get me every combination, but as a general method, is it not cheaper and ultimately the same result?

Browsing through various cheapo adapters on eBay, it seems like anything for m4/3 is easily 2-3 times the cost of the other adapters which require far less material because they are only filling gaps of a few millimeters.
