I just spent about 12 hours in the past few days learning all about the "G13" hack. I was left with 2 thoughts. Being an old guy growing up in the 50's and 60's the only hacks you'd hear about was in Popular Science. I remember some guy who hacked a carburetor and was getting 60MPH. I heard later GM bought the idea and shelved it. Of course nobody cared as gas was 32 cents a gallon. But now, today, some guy in Russia.........come to think of it, he might live in Malibu..........develops a way to vastly improve the quality of a product and through the internet great interest is immediately created and a bunch of other guys are testing it and he can even get paid for his work with Pay Pal.
The other realization is how the electronic firms market their products. I'll bet if they wanted to they could make a relatively simple camera with a big fat sensor that would blow away the 10G pro cameras. And put themselves out of business, unfortunately, in the process.
