Another AF100 video/fun in the sun. Wanted to test some 'sunshine/magic hour' beauty looks. Turned out pretty well. Was pretty upset during/after filming, I didn't think I was getting the looks I wanted out of the camera and with the sun (maybe it was just too bright out), but after seeing it color corrected I don't feel nearly as bad, and instead I am rather pleased. Color corrected in FCP COLOR. Below are PRE-COLOR CORRECTED IMAGES to see what was done in the final grading.

Comments welcome!

Tokina 11-16mm
Voigtlander 25mm
Zeiss 35/50/85mm
B+W Circular Polarizer on most shots (awesome)

Cine D, Norm2 -4Chroma Level -4Detail(s)

Enjoy

Song is Dinah Washington 'What a Difference a Day Made'

Here are some pre-color corrected 'straight out of camera' images:

Love it. Good stuff and just the right exposure. So much of that depends on the amount of light you let in.

Thanks. Exposure is KEY. Tried my best in the sun to keep it under control enough. Camera is very capable if exposure is hit. Thanks again.

i'm very impressed.

Did I mention I am always looking for work

. Kind of struggling to find my footing in this video/film world. As with a lot of young (24 yrs) video/film guys I want to do narrative work. But right now I am looking for anything. So I try to keep up my skills, and keep creating and posting.

I appreciate the compliment!

Yeah. Exposing correctly is the very first step to having something worth grading and using. Of course, good focus, great lighting, amazing talent in front of the camera, a tight script, a skilled crew, tons of tools at your disposal, the clouds being directed at your will, and a couple of Hooter girls cheering you on don't hurt. ;-)

Yeah. Very collaborative. I haven't had the Hooters girls on any of my sets yet. What am I doing wrong? haha

Nice production value...nice job. Did you consider using a little ambient sound for this piece? No judgement at this end, just that I generally feel a little more immersed when its used well (and appropriately, which can be difficult in these pieces).

Aside from low light capabilities, how would you compare your Zeiss glass to the Voigtlander?

Thanks for sharing...

That is a very interesting idea I had not thought about at all. It would be interesting to put some in effectively. Might experiment. Thanks.

In regards to the zeiss glass vs voigtlander in lowlight: I really think the f0.95 of the Voigtlander is awesome to use in extreme situations where you have little to no light. Other than that I think the zeiss lenses at 1.4-2.0 are really nice at most light levels. I did a video awhile back with the Voigtlander. On vimeo: http://vimeo.com/23370786 . All with Voigtlander at night and no added lighting. Thanks again!

You know, I'd be curious to see a single frame grab from your voigtlander set to infinity at f0.95 with something in the distance. The reason I bring it up is that when I shoot at f1.4 and try to get perfect focus on the houses across the street, things look murky and milky. I guess I'm craving a milkshake tonight. Anyways, the point is that that lens is amazing. I've seen the low light clip you posted and it looks great but one has to be careful when using it for a wider shot.

At f0.95 you definitely have to be on your game as a focus pulled in order to get perfect results. The lens at f0.95 is definitely for specific certain situations. I used it on this video around f1.4 without any focus issues.
