Watch out 7d? (I seriously doubt it)

I think this is shadow of things to come from Fuji Film. I'd be surpised if their next DSLR offering doesn't include HD video. Happy Days!

24-720? That's ... 30:1. That's crazy!

And 24mm f/2.8? Nice.

But it's a smaller-than-1/2" chip, so bye-bye to the shallow DOF look (unless you're at 720mm... which isn't really 720mm, it's 4.2 to 126mm) so ... yeah, not really a 7D/GH1 competitor here.

Wonder what the frame size is at 1000 fps? The smallest "movie size" they list is 320x240, and 1000fps at 320x240 would be pretty darn cool...

I'll wait and see- Fuji's sensors have put them toward the far end of the still camera quality spectrum after Nikon, Canon, Panasonic, Sony, etc. So I'm not expecting greatness here- and 30p- c'mon!

Overcranking?!! :) (not quite Red Camera...but it's only $500)

...interesting that this may be a camera to break Scarlet people into the whole fixed lens feel. (No shallow DOF...etc) I agree Barry that it would be FUN FUN FUN to shoot 1000 fps in 320x240.

It's to bad that it's MPEG4. :( We'll see what it ends up looking like, but sometimes MPEG4 can look like crap! We'll see though.

I got some info regarding the fps:

1000fps 224x64
480fps 224x168
240fps 448x360
120fps 640x480
60fps 960x720

I got this from a Swedish-rep so the numbers could be slightly different in NTSC

It seems like this is just a rehash of the 2 year old Casio Exilim EX-FH20 (currently around $500+) that also has variable frame rates up to 1000 fps. They even have a lesser Casio Exilim EX-FH20 that shoots multiple frame rates (up to 1000…and especially 720p @ 30fps) and costs under $200 (at 9 Megapixels).

Obvisously the picture sizes at those rates are not so big. But...this cam is basically the same thing under a different name (IMO).

Seriously, you can shoot at 1,000 fps? I don't care how small the resolution is. I think that's freaking awesome.

The real question is... does it have full-resolution HDMI-out that can be captured in a professional color space? Hmm?
