Weird thought....

I have been doing some thinking lately. Yeah that's the weird part, LOL.

No, I have been thinking about writing an autobiography. Not for bragging, but to help inspire others to seek their dreams. I have been given the opportunity to experience things that others only dream about. Walking (well crawling, actually) into burning buildings, being a paramedic in two countries, floating down Class 5 rapids in just a wetsuit, jumping out of a plane, being shot at, my film experiences, spending a week out in the desert living of the land, etc. Yes, I am an adrenaline junkie, and never passed up an opportunity to experience life at its fullest.

My thought was I could write this and give others the push they need to get out of the norm and seek an adventure of their own.

What would you offer by way of advice? Would this be too presumptuous of me? Basically this started when someone said they wanted to make a movie about my life (at the time I laughed at the idea, "my life???????")

Yeah Doc, I think that is great idea. If not for public consumption, it would be a good idea to have to pass down to future generations and what not. Doing a project like that might also help to crystalize those "Magic" events that shape use all, and since you would be putting them down in black and white, you might end up with, at least, a personal reference that you can plug into and use for the creative work that you do in the future. What I mean is, while writing your autobiography, you will get the opportunity to re-experience, mentally and emotionally at least, many of the experiences that you had in the past. With this, even if you do not get the story published, or produced as a film, you will still have this amazing document to refer back to better understand yourself, and your experiences. Somewhere in the future your are going to be given a script, or will want to write a script, that will need you to pull from your past. With a written autobiography, even if unpublished or unproduced, you will still have a reference to go back to, a starting point, to use from now on. Also, using your past experiences to help shape your current and future artistic endeavors will give you an opportunity to continue to refine the autobiography, and its style and content. This might make it more desirable for publication or produceable as a film. I say go for it.

BTW, I didn't know that you were a Paramedic. I worked as a Paramedic ,in and around Detroit, for about 20 years. Too much Man's inhumanity to Man for the faint of heart to endure, Ya know?

I very much know what you mean. And those early days in my 20's, I think, really formulated how I am now. How I look at life and how precious it is, and how it shouldn't be wasted because you never know......

Do it. I mean really, isn't that your approach to life? I've always had the same attitude and never wanted to look back and regret not having done something.

It all boils down to your purpose in doing so Doc. I see the nobility in the purpose of yours which is to share and inspire, so go for it!
