Weird pet peeves?

I'd be interested to know if a "Things We Love" thread would grow as quickly as this has.

Pet Peeves:

1.
The feel of cotton balls. There is something disgusting about the way it crunches between your fingers. If anyone near me has a cotton ball between their fingers I get goosebumps all over my skin, no joke.

2.
People who push their cart down the left side or center of the aisle in the grocery store.
Why is it we can all manage to stay within orderly lanes on the road but our minds break down when we get into the produce section? If we followed the same rules in the grocery store we'd all get in and out a lot faster.

3.
Waiter who remove your plate the milisecond you have finished eating.
My most extreme example with that was having lunch with my wife recently. I picked up what was left of my sandwich and the waiter pulls my plate out from under me on his way back to the kitchen. So I'm left with a sandwich in my hand. I suppose he thought I was about to finish?

4.
When customer service people or managers use the phrase "We can't do (blank)"
Example:
"We can't replace that, but we can exchange it"
"I can't do anything about that"

People need to learn that "can't" and "won't" are two VERY different words.
And if we were all to speak honestly I think the word "can't" wouldn't be used nearly as much.

5.
I hate the fact that the internet has blurred my definitions of communication.
I often catch myself saying "I was talking to (blank) the other day..." only to stop and realize that I'm talking about instant messenger or email. I fear for the future of interpersonal relationships.

6.
The phrase "pre-owned" when it comes to used cars.
Actually, any marketing new-speak for that matter.

7.
The marketing of catastrophes and wars in the media.
I'm sure you can see the graphics now....

"Disaster in the Gulf"
"Terror in New Orleans"
"Mission Sadaam"

It cheapens the actual event and the people involved.

8.
I have a bad habit of doing this myself, but I can't stand it when people use "how are you?" or "how's it going?" as a salutation. Why ask if you have no actual interest in finding an answer?
It makes me feel shallow and rude everytime I do it.

I also hate when every store tries to get you to sign up for their credit card so that you can save 10% that day on the stick of deodorant you picked up because your other stick fell in the toilet.

Best Buy can take their 8 free issues of Entertainment Weekly and Sports Illustrated and shove them up their collective asses.

Yes

Each and every single time I check out at Target they ask "Would you like to apply for a Target Visa Card" ?

No. I do not wan;t to apply to be in debt at 18%. I find this a cheap tactic and it only serves the countries debt and consumption. I complained to the local Manager of my Target (Target Greatland - Vista,Ca) and got the:

"Well, they make us do it. It's a corporate policy. So, you're gonna have to take it up with corporate."

A-HOLES

I didn't want to admit it earlier, but John Hudson was right when he said that he mostly doesn't like people.

Imagine how cool it would be if everybody in here was at a convention for these pet peeves and for people who loved this same crap. Now that would be fun to watch from the balcony.

My brother is better at bitching about human stupidity then anyone in the world. One day we're threading traffic and we had to avoid one stupid driver after the next. Finally my brother says, "I wish instead of hands I had guns."

I really wanted to work that line into my zombie flick. You'll hear it in something I do. He spouts about 50 of those a day.

Dude, are you referring to commas by any chance?

This is Barry's apostrophe. These are Pookie's, uh, commas.

Little... higher, different. Please, let's try and get it right.

I was betting big time no one would notice........:cheesy:

Good idea for a thread.

I feel bad for things left alone. Example: If there is one piece of corn left on my plate I must eat it, or find it a friend (maybe a pea or a lima bean). I don't like to throw anything away that's alone either. If a pencil is broken I will throw it away with another broken pencil. So it doesn't feel bad I guess. :) Do I have loneliness issues? Probably.

Oh dear. Our son Zachary is the same, only he feels bad for any amount of foodstuff. One or twenty, it's all the same to him. As a result, the kid fridge is full of little plates and various containers of his "leftovers" that he can't bear to throw away.

Um, as an aside, PK, you're not a serial killer or anything like that, are you?

Smacking & slurping

The feel of paper after you wash your hands and they're dried out from the soap

Oh and one more thing

Clothesdryers - I cant breath around the things, I cough and sputter - it's horrible

Wet dish rags left in the sink. Yuck.
Sponges of any kind.
Wrinkled sheets. (CLEAN, wrinkled sheets.)

Gee, I really hate to get started down this road.

Wow, I can't believe no one has mentioned mine yet. I hate.....no wait....I ****ing REALLY hate it when people pronounce *supposedly* like "Supposobly". Where the hell did the *B* come from? That is damn f'ing annoying.

Hudson, I'll goto a Bobcats game with you.

EDIT: I was so pissed when I was typing that so I googled it and got this:

http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Supposably

Apparently the word actually has a VALID use. Forgive me. :(

~reservoir~

I hate when I am trying to chill on a plane watching a movie on my laptop and some schmo behind me is lookin in on my flick.......I mean....if I want to pass the time on a flight that is my frickin business....get your own damn hobby....
Also, I hate when people still say "hella" or "I was all...then she was all...etc etc"

chicks who CONSTANTLY text on their cell phone.

tick tick ticka tick ticktick tick....... bvvvvvvvvvvvv(vibrating)...... *snigger* ticka ticka tick tick...

all the way through class. what the hell is so important? and it's like they type faster on their cell phones than i do on a keyboard. it takes me 5 minutes just to put someone's name in on my phone.

ROFL This is the funniest collection of pet peeves ever.

I don't have anything too weird, I just get pissed at the stupidity of humanity in general. I would say that bad driving, inconsiderate and illogical actions, lack of knowledge of the English languange and people who don't do anything for themselves are things that really tick me off.

Some voices annoy me. The wrong combination of vocal inflections, with certain speech patterns that have repetitive ticks/filler words, along with a bad overbite are enough to make me want to punch that person in the face.

I'm such a bad person.

Being tailgated

What's really bad is 3am on the expressway, no one else is sight. Four open lanes but you you have to ride ten foot off my bumper going 70, no 60, 50, 45mph. Jesus Christ take a hint, go around.

Stupid ads, that make other business put up stupid banners like... employee pricing.

Fake Church Folks!

A.

That's another thing. I'm not here to bash anybody faithful to so and so, but good lord (pun intended?), why do people have to relate everything they do now a days to their religion or belief?

For instance, if someone bought a new car, they would say "It was God who told me I needed a new car." Are you sure it was God, or the fact that your 34 year old car is on it's 3rd set of wheels, 4th transmission, and the back doors have giant gaping holes in them because of rust? If God is common sense, then golly gee, it must have been God!

That's exactly who I was talking about! Their corporate offices are in Minneapolis. Perhaps I should mess with them sometime in the near future?

Do you smell a padlock?

Agreed. Let's keep the taboo subjects (religion, politics, Martha Stewart, etc.) out of this thread. It kicks ass, and I'd like it to continue.:)

One of my other pet peeves is when people pull threads OT.

Here let me give you an example.

I hearby nominate Kai for "Best Avatar Ever".

Dude, you are my hero.

The phrase is "i COULDN'T care less" not "I COULD care less"!!!
If you COULD care less, it means that you currently care MORE than the bare minimum.

Messed up English really pisses me off.
