Weird P2 card Mac error

Having a strange P2 card storage issue. My workflow is: I copy the card contents (duel adapter, macbook pro, OS 10.4.11) to individual folders on an external drive (Lacie rugged 250) on location. Then later I copy the card folders from the lacie to two other backup hard drives. Have done so about 100 times now over the past two years, and have never had a problem.

But this time, one card directory won't copy from the lacie to the other drives, and won't mount in FCP. When I try to copy the card folder, I get:

*The item "LASTCLIP.TXT" contains one or more busy items that cannot be changed.*

I have no other applications open. If I try to open the lastclip file, I get:

*Item "LASTCLIP.TXT" is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened.*

And if I try use Import P2 in FCP I get:

*"Card 1" has invalid directory structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches the supported media.*

So it seems the LASTCLIP.txt file is corrupted or something? Everything else is there in the card folder, in the CONTENTS folder, the mxf's, etc. I've run disk utilities and there's nothing wrong with the lacie, and I just bought it two weeks ago.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Ah- and this is why I'm so down on Lacies whenever someone asks. Chances are there's a bad sector or perhaps an incomplete copy that involved the LaCie. Try moving the items one by one rather than the whole directory.

Thanks Noah. All the items will move... except the lastclip.txt file. That's the problem.

I've also tried P2CMS and it won't ingest the card... is there a way of rebuilding the lastclip.txt file, or creating a new one?
