Weird noise?

Hello Fellow DVXusers,
I recently purchased a low hour DVX100A, and when I first picked it up I noticed a small noise coming from inside the camera. While the camera is off and I rock the camera back and forth, I hear a slight tapping noise as if something is moving inside on a teeter totter (around the 3CCD logo). I've placed a Panasonic tape inside and turned the camcorder on, and the noise seems to go away. Is this normal or should I be worried?

Thanks for anyones help..

Correct.. Its almost like somethings loose, and its just rocking back and forth inside. If I point the camera up I'll hear a slight tap, and if I point it back down I'll hear the same slight tap again..

This is probably the most asked question about the DVX from people who first get the cam.

The Noise you here is part of the optical Image Stabilizer. It is completely normal and it is also the reason the noise disappears when the camera is powered. The system engages and you don't hear it.

Barry Green's DVX book addresses this with much more expertise then I just explained. As a DVX owner I can tell you that Barry's book is not an option it is a necessity. If you don't have it GET IT.

Also try out the search function on the site. There is a wealth of information and with the DVX being an older camera, chances are many of your questions have already been answered.

Congrats on your purchase...Welcome to DVXUSER

Thanks Gents, I really do feel ashamed for not using the search button, but I guess I felt like I had a broken camera.. I just recieved my copy of the DVX book and DVD, and I promise I'll read and watch both front to back before asking anymore silly questions..

Thanks once again.
