C300: Weird CF card issue

I shot about 30m of footage on my C300 on a Sandisk Extreme 90mb/s CF card and I'm having a weird issue that I've never had before. When I connect the card via CF card reader (USB) to my Mac Pro, I get a prompt saying that the computer can't recognize the card and it gives me three options: ignore, eject, initialize. I clicked eject and popped the card back into the camera to make sure it wasn't corrupt, and the footage is still there. It's accessible and playable. Tried two readers with no success, will try a third when I get home.

What gives? Has anyone had this issue before? How do I retrieve the footage?

Did you try to connect the C100 to your Mac via the USB port and download with the card in the camera?
Also, it may not be related to your problem, but the same thing happened to me once with a Sony, and the cause was that I formatted the card in my computer instead of in the camera.

I've had this issue with cards on the C300, but for me they wouldn't play back on the camera either. I would suggest using the in camera menus to copy the files to another card just to be safe.

Quick question first, so card in camera, all reading the files OK?

Yeah, when the card's in the camera there's no problems at all. Footage reads fine, and plays back without any issue. I just tried a third reader, one that I know to work, and still no success.

That was my first thought, but I'm using a C300 so there's no USB out and I never format cards through the computer -- always in the camera.

Great idea! Transferring the files to a different card in camera allowed me to offload the footage to post so at least we're back on track. So I guess it was the card after all...strange, as I've never had a problem with the Sandisk Extreme CF cards until yesterday.

I had lost one 8 GB Sandisk Extreme, but that was long back while using with 1D Mark IV. Now I am using the 64GB 600x cards and those are pretty good.

After you copied the files, it is best to initialise media in the C300. I never delete the card files through the computer.
