Week long HVX timelapse

Just wondering if it is possible to do a timelapse on the HVX that would be around a week long in real time (i.e. a seed growing, etc).

Anybody done this?

Yeah, totally possible.

But you'd have to use plug-in power to do it. I don't think any of my batteries last a week straight :)

Or, if you set your HVX on a solid tripod, maybe you could just power on and off the camera a few times each day, saving energy?

How long would you like the final video to play?

Sweet. Probably want it about 15 or 30 seconds. Now the major concern is the electricity bill from keeping my 650 or 1k on for a week.

Anybody have a week long timelapse?

I wouldn't use a video camera at all. Use a still camera, take a shot once a half hour or whatever. But that brings up an impartant issue - automation - you'll either need to press a buttom once per half hour or whatever, or have a camera with some sort of built-in time lapse function (don't know whether such things exist), or have the camera attached to a computer and have the computer take the photos via some sort of time lapse software

I agree (given that you have a Dslr), you will also have a greater resolution video. I would use the computer with a timelapse software (I use a software from Nikon taht I can't remenber at this moment).

I'm doing some time lapse for a project now.

What would you like to film?

If it's plants there are ways of speeding things along.

Use Kino's for your power bill.

If it's a cityscape that should be no problem no lights... hang the cam out a window.

A good DSLR is better than the HVX but you have to use what you can get.

You can only shoot time lapse with spacific frame rates so make sure that will work with your project.

Regardless of how you shoot (constant or flash), you'd only require the lights to be on for the shooting. And a week cut down to 15/30seconds won't drain too much electricity.

Look forward to seeing a seed grow :) Please post when finished.

Pocket wizards to the rescue

Pocket wizards to the rescue

The device you are looking for is called an introvlomiter (I know i misspelled it) but it can be found on a number of devices. one is called a pocket wizard. you can connect it to your camera and tell it to take a picture at a set rate 1 per sec or 1 per 30 sec and so on. i think up to 1 per 9999 sec. I've done many time lapse pictures with it and it works perfectly.

here is a link to B&H http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._802_450_MultiMax_32_Channel_Transceiver.html

then get a cord off ebay that fits your camera type.

you can also use it to remote fire your camera or flashes.

here is a video i did that used the setup on a few shots
