Wedding videography lenses for T2i ?

Hello Everyone

I am a beginer in Dslr videography, i need some advise about vintage lense for my canon t2i. I already have : Tamron 18-270,Helios 44M, SMC pentax-m f2,Tokina 80-200. I want to use those lense for a basic wedding videography. Right now i am chasing for some lense on 80mm f1.8, but i dont know which is good for my crop sensor, i also think about some 135mm f2.8. Many thanks for any advise.

I would invest in a nice constant aperture zoom like the Tamron 17-50 2.8 for ceremony coverage and an even faster decently wide prime like the Sigma 30 1.4 for reception stuff.

I wouldn't use anything over 50mm if you are going handheld, it will be way too hard to keep it stable. I actually can't imagine you ever needing anything over 50mm if you are shooting with only one camera. I've shot numerous single camera weddings and have never touched my longer lenses.

Thanks super_plus

I want you 2 t2i and 1 consumer camcorder, so i gona you longer lenses for B cam in the wedding dance. However, 50mm in my t2i it will be 80, so do you think i should buy 28 or 24mm. I tried the smc pentax on my t2i, it not wide enought and somthing were not right. One more question, do you think handheld support can give me a good stable, and i dont which one is good an cheap.

I would set up the B cam closer to the wedding party with a 50mm 1.8 or some sort of 2.8 zoom. Your long zoom lenses are probably too slow for wedding videography. Most weddings are pretty dimly lit and you'll definitely need the extra stops. Underexposed footage is emabarassing and unprofessional, fast lenses are a must.
A simple cheap monopod does a very good of stabilizing. I think i paid $12 for mine at wal mart.

Thanks super_plus.
I have question with my t2i: i just test with my Helios 44M,f2 and pentax smc 50mm f2, all these lenses look like not wire enought. Therefore , do you think i should by some lenses like 24-28mm f 1.4 to f2, I saw some good deal like Vivitar and Tokina? Anyway thank you very much.

I shoot with 2 t2i's and an HVX200a. I use the Canon 50mm 1.8 more than anything. Most receptions I shoot are too dark for even a 2.8 lens without going over 3200 iso. If you are trying to save some money the 50mm 1.8 is very hard to beat.

Since you can use the consumer cam for the wide shot, you'll probably be ok with the Helios/Pentax for close ups. If you can find a wider 1.4 for a good price, I would definitely go for it because you will find yourself in some very dark situations.

Thanks MarcRoberts, Super_plus
I am bidding smc takumar 55mm f1.4 and maniay 50mm f1.4 on ebay, i hope i can get those lense for closeup. I have one more question about handheld device, there are: 1)Zacuto DSLR Target Shooter Kit
2)Zacuto DSLR Striker Kit
those are very expensive for me, so do you know any solutions can help me to save some money. I gona use those devices for close up shooting, and one tripod for my consumer camcorder.

I would save your money and put it towards lenses. Get a cheap monopod. Since you're not attaching a bunch of accessories those rigs are really overkill

I agree with super_plus about a monopod. I use two set ups. I have a t2i on a tripod and a t2i that I either use handheld (not recommended, lots of practice, have to weigh it down) or a monopod. A nice shoulder rail system etc would be nice but yeah, they are expensive. I use my monopod in this manner: http://cheesycam.com/?p=93

Thanks super_plus and MarcRoberts

Could you pls advise for me some solutions about this kind of fishes eyes. And about the 24-70mm focal length , do you know any cheap vintages lenses can give me a wide enought for my t2i. Hello super_plus

I got your advises, thanks so much. I have question about comsumer camcorder, right now i want to buy 1 camcorder for the main shooting and my t2i is for B cam. Could you advise me what is the good camcorder can produce the same color with my t2i, i mean the colors are matching with t2i, and it is not to much expensive. Do you think about the canon XHA1 for my A cam. Thks a lot for any advises.
