Hey Guys,

Thought I'd share a teaser I edited from a wedding I shot this past weekend. The ceremony footage was shot with the FX-1 (except the exit) while the rest (including the candids of the bride before she walks out) was shot with the 550D.

Lenses used:

Tamron 17-50 2.8
Vivitar 75-205 3.8 for the first dance footage
Canon 50 1.8 for the backstage bridal footage.
Mamiya 55 1.4 for the final shot.

Enjoy!

wow.. real nice stuff man.. Any cc?

Only a slight border darkening for the FX 1 footage (everything in the ceremony minus the exit which was shot with the 550D) Everything else is untouched and straight out of the cam. Thanks for watching!

Great stuff Chris! - What are your feeling on shooting with the DSLR compared to tape base cameras? I was expecting to see reception footage that was blurry and out of focus but I see that you chose to use the Vivitar which is the slows lens listed. Was the reception hall brightly lit or did you up the ISO? Are these cams that good in low light with out the use of a light or did you use any lights during the first dance?

Over all first impressions look fantastic! Again I would love to see footage as you progress with the edit. Thanks

The things I miss with video cameras is mainly the zoom. You get spoiled by that 10x zoom even if it's not the greatest. Also, I miss longer battery life with the t2i's. They last about 90 minutes vs. the 6 hours I got out of my Sony batteries. Other than that, I didn't see much difference shooting with the Canon t2i as opposed to shooting with the FX1 other than the fantastic picture quality and lower weight of the camera of course.

The dance floor was lit pretty well but I did up the iso to 1600-3200 (can't remember which) which resulted in some noise. Thankfully, when I downsampled to 720P, the noise seems to have been reduced and at SD, it's gone. Even when I upgrade to a faster zoom, I'll still probably hold on to the Vivitar as it's a series 1 zoom made by Kiron which produces really punchy colors in good light.

As for low light performance? I think with a 50 or 30 1.4, you could probably leave the light in your bag. It's that good. Hope that helps!
