C100: Wedding Steadicam Work

Hey All!

I've been doing a lot of weddings this summer (25+ so far), and for a bunch of them I'm doing a lot of glidecam work.

I put this together very quickly to provide samples to someone. Shots straight out of the camera, no stabilization, colour correction, etc. Most of which are shot EOS Standard profile (lots of same days so editor wanted it).

Looking for any feedback/thoughts towards improving!

Was pretty good.
Using a 2000 or a 4000?
Watch videos by Jason Magbanua and also Imperial Productions on Video, those guys are masters with the Glidecam. My wife uses a Steadicam Flyer and she loves doing weddings. Total Pro and she's certified. Keep up the good work, you can only get better

Thanks!

Almost all of those are on a Weildy Carbon Fibre Stabilizer (no vest). Ebay knock-off.
Thanks for the suggestions - I'll check those out!

I used this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Wieldy-Stead...913?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3388ccc3b1 (No arm/Vest though)

Only 2 weights per side with the pole extended all the way down.
C100 w/no audio handle (no sound recorded at all) - Typically EOS Standard pic profile for same-day edits (I would prefer WideDR or Cinema)
Canon 10-22mm (usually at 12mm or 14mm).
No quick release plate either, screwed the camera straight into the top of the sled to save weight (if I used the manfrotto quick release, I would have had to add more weights to balance it).

The entire thing is surprisingly light. The weildy carbon fiber sled is much lighter than the glidecam 2000 for sure.

That's top notch....especially love that shot of the Couple 2.42....Would you get the Vest going forward??I always wondered why Regular Wedding Shooters don't just carry their camera around on a Stablizer all day because you can frame ordinary shots off it too. That would be my plan. Great Job on this..I don't know that you need to get much better....plus you keep a lot of shots tight and short which will cover up mistakes....and love the Song selection too....a lot better than regular royalty free music.

Thanks!

I'm debating getting the Weildy Vest to go with it actually. Its fairly inexpensive as well - although might go all-out on an X-10 or something as well.
Issue with the vest (for weddings) is space. The smooth shooter/X-10 feels massively bulky and is BIG, and when there are 3 videographer and 2 photographers shooting a groom or bride's house, there isn't much space! Being able to only have the camera and sled is very compact. With no vest though, I strip down the camera as much as possible (so no audio). Vest would allow me to use the audio handle on the camera all day.

For parks etc when there is more room, it might be nice to have the vest for getting some height changes a bit more stable as well.

Thanks again for compliment!
