wedding shoot

Hello,

I have a wedding shoot thats going to be taking place in july '07. I was wondering whether any of you have ever gone the extra mile to real build a solid project. My ideas involved going to the location of the event, shooting two months early and get them prep'd for the dvd video to come. Is it too much initiative, should i pull back out of it and wait for the event day?

I will probably be shooting in HD(a1) and down converting to SD and probably just backing it up for hd-dvd/bluray. the other plans involved designing the dvd cover 2 months early that way i just deal with editing and sending it out quickly with no delays.

what does everyone think of this idea? please comments.

TIA,

Hi mate, I do weddings and similar stuff full time (www.yourday2remember.co.uk). I always go the extra mile - but going to the venue 2 months before is bizare in my opinion. As is designing the cover in advance - sure make the frame and titles etc but what are you going to put into it when you dont have any pics?
When i do a wedding I go to the venue 2 hours before the ceremony, allowing me time to both get location shots, speak to the vicar and get shots of guests arriving .
It has always worked for me :)
as for shooting in HD, Im not there yet so good luck with that.
