Wedding Filmmakers, Peep my new wedding film......Something quite different!

Looking on critiques and opinions on my unconventional wedding film. Took a different direction when editing the piece (guns n roses as a soundtrack to the ceremony). In all, I wanted to make this a more fun and enjoyable watch for the audience. I wanted to avoid the classical and traditional approach (because at times those type of films bore me). Looking to see what other video pros think of it.

Back story: I had to drive directly from out of town to shoot this wedding and literally showed up 25 min before the ceremony started. This was a last minute gig and I didn't even meet the couple prior to the ceremony because they lived too far. Also, we almost quit halfway through the evening because the groom gave us the wrong address for the reception (so we missed the entourage entrance into the art museum). Also for the audio I had no lav gear and the echoes in the church was so bad I totally cut the audio of the vows altogether (couple didn't have a problem with that).

Enjoy!

Alrght here we go nice and quick commenting while watching:

- i think the dissolves around 40-45 are not a good choice, there is little to no difference between shots

- I think you could fine tune your edit better, cut more on beats, if you like to deliver a 11 minute video and if thats what you pitch to your clients then fine, and your clients might love that, but especially without audio, it's just a bunch of shots in a church, repetitive, we don't know whats going on. Another thing you can do is two videos one shorter (for your site (people who may not know the couple can still enjoy it) and a longer one as well that is more inclusive of everything.

- Side note - there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't have lav mics or some audio solution if you are doing this professionally. What we hear is just as important as what we see.

- You have some good movement with your shots, either movement in the edit, slider? glidecam? and then you have shots that seem handheld. There are companies that do great work with both styles, but mixing is something I don't care for.

- Copyright issues aside, the songs seem like they work for a wedding.

- Some cool timelapse stuff, also some nice shots of exteriors

- Random black and white shot at 3:20? why?

- that is an awesome carriage

- nice timelapse at 4:50

- During all the toasts I would turn the music down a bit even more, kinda hard to hear

- Alright general thought here: You seem to be good at editing, at putting something together, but I think you are overdoing it. You are not keeping any kind of theme throughout, you have overloaded it with effects, slomotion, fast motion, tons of different kinds of transitions, black and white, color, added film grain. In my opinion this is too much. Stick to a few things that help to tell your story, and again, I'd tighten it up a bit too.

So there is my citique, take it or leave it, just my opinion, and of course, just trying to help. I hope it helps!
