OTHER: WEB SERIES: Nicolife

Here are some behind the scenes shots from Season 1. Since this was a zero-budget production, we just used a lot of outside locations as well as apartments/houses that belong to friends and family.

In addition to the full-length episodes, we also wanted to create some supplemental material for fans of the show. As a way of promoting our main character Nicolai Travis, we created 8 original “Video Diaries.” These are short rants, in which Nicolai goes off on some random topic, such as marriage, movie violence or democracy. They’re usually about a minute in length, and we hope that people find them entertaining!

Thanks, Tim! :D

I also wanted to share our original soundtrack for the show. It was created by Mikael Bäck, a Swedish composer and musician, who did a such an amazing job with giving our episodes distinct musical identities.

CLICK HERE to listen to our complete soundtrack.

My personal favorite tracks are

• "Nicolife Theme" and "Smooth Sailing - Credits" from Episode 1 (which is our main theme that is reused during the title sequence every episode)
• "Oatmeal Memories - PART I" from Episode 2
• "I Have My Dancing" and "Run, Phil, Run!" from Episode 3
• "Walk in the Park" and "Trashed II" from Episode 4
• "A Good Day - Credits" from Episode 5
• "Getting Ready for the Guests" and "We Have to Make More - Credits" from Episode 6

Let us know what you think!

On our YouTube channel, we've also shared a few deleted scenes of the show. These were cut out of the final episodes because they weighted down or distracted from the main narrative in some way. However, they still provide interesting tidbits about our main characters, so I thought I'd put them up here for anyone who might be interested.

Learning on the fly

Learning on the fly

Throughout the making of this web series, we always pushed ourselves to try new camera techniques and to explore cinematic ways to tell our story.

For instance, in production of Episode 2 and 3 we built our own crane, which enabled us to do sweeping camera movements and to capture a scene from elevated angles:

For Episode 3 we built our own dolly:

And Episode 4 was the first time that we had used a camera car mount to capture the action inside a moving vehicle:

These are just a few examples of how we gained new experiences throughout the making of Nicolife.

Fake Corpses

Fake Corpses

For Episode 6, we had to get a little creative with the prop design in order to make two corpses that could be lugged around in lieu of having to abuse our actors.

This will give you an idea of how we pieced together a pair of fake dead bodies by using PVC pipes, duct tape and styrofoam heads. :)

Today, we just released an official trailer for Nicolife: Season 1. Check out this explosive 40-second look at what this web series has in store for you!

Nicolife was just featured on a website called TVWriter and this is what they had to say about the show:

“This thing is funnier than anything people to tell me to watch on TV…and people tell me to watch a humongous number of shows.”

So there you have it on good authority! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG) Thanks for spreading the word about our independent show, guys!

Here are some behind the scenes shots from our season finale, Episode 6. We really went all out on this one, trying to surpass anything we've done in the past!
