Weather Conditions - Shooting Outside

I need to shoot outside next week and was wondering if it's okay to shoot in the low 30s (F)/high 20s? Will this cause any damage to my camera? Will it shorten the cameras life or anything?

I've shot in the high arctic at -52C and as long as I was smart about keeping camera insulated so it could retain its own heat and not allow it in a circumstance where condensation could form on or even inside lens then everything was alway fine.

Above all keep the camera dry.

By keeping it insulated do you mean buying some sort of accessory for it to put on it while filming, or are you just saying when not filming in between takes I should keep it in my case?

What are you using for insulation or as a case for recording. It gets pretty cold in MN and I've been wondering the same thing for keeping the camera safe. I've always put my consumer stuff in a plastic ziplock bag after I come in doors but I'm not sure if this is the best thing for a more complex and larger camera.

We shoot outside at a ski areas quite a bit, the main thing to watch out for is condensation. If we are shooting outside we let the camera climatize for about 15-30 minutes depending on the variance betweeen the outside and inside temps. The plastic bag is ideal but we just let it sit in the backpack we carry the camera in. If it get really cold (~20 degrees or below) watch out for the plastic on the DVX, it is cheap and breaks easily and Panasonic is discontinuing many of the parts for the DVX so you may end up with a duct taped DVX. If you are shooting in blowing snow or if there is potential for it getting really cold I would invest in a Porta-Brace cover. I would not go to the extreme of the Polor cover but the regular blue one has worked well for us in many conditions.
