Holy crap that was some great footage!!! Can't wait to see your version with some beeffed up sound, couldn't hear a few lines in there, but image wise, outstanding. I love the low key lighting, but I think you might have gone a wee bit dark on couple of shots. I have been on a couple of 48 hour shoots and this is quite an accomplishment for that amount of time. rock on
Very good!! Loved it! Yes the sound went down on a few lines, but since your the dp, ill just critique that. The lighting was great and consistent. A few shots with the fish tank was lit. or showed a glow, not sure why, but then in some other shots, the bottom glow or whatever that was is gone. Look at the shot where she puts her hands in the water, you'll see light in the tank. I think thats the only thing Ihave to say.
But if the director or writer sees this......why in the hell is the mother just standing near the doorway while her child just plays around? Plus, you see him enter, but never saw him leave? confused the hell outa me.
This looks amazing, your composition, lighting, everything is top notch!
I love to see some raw footage out of curiosity of what your stuff looks like pre-correction. If you could post grabs or a clip that'd be great.
looks incredible! i really like the whole mood of the short.
one weird thing i noticed was in the first shot of the house, the clouds are moving slowly in one direction and then suddenly switch and start moving in the opposite direction... i know this is a roughcut but i just thought i'd point it out.
i really like the opening music, what is it? great stuff!
I noticed the weird cloud moving thing too. I told the VFX guys to correct that.
Yeah, I usually don't like posting roughcuts of anything but it's going to be a while before I get my version done (which I hope you all still want to watch after viewing this cut), so that you can see some G35 shots.
The glow you are referring to is strange.. I think it was that particular lighting and lens combo that caused that.. I didn't get to choose any of the shots, but I'm going to see what takes have it and which don't for my cut.
The "too dark" parts are a mistake on the part of the colour timer (I gave them instructions but I think they made a mistake. Not everything is supposed to be that dark. I will correct that in my cut so that the ones that appear too dark will be appear acceptably dark.
We had an assortment of Nikkor/Sigma lenses...from 20, 35, 50, 52, 90, 35-70, 130, 200.
wow. that looked great! I liked that the red blood in the sink stood out against all of the white and green. I'm a little confused on the story, but I guess this was just a rough cut of a certain sequence.
i'm new to these forums, so two quick questions... the G35 is the lens you put on the DVX? and the 48hr film festival w/ Rob Rodriguez... is that Robert Rodriguez (Sin City, El Mariachi, Spy Kids)?
Jermz, yes the G35 is an adaptor that allows you to attach 35mm Nikon lenses to your DVX. And yes, the Robert Rodriguez...who directed those films. He was the judge.
