Now you can sell your short films, tv shows and courses online through apple ipodTV. I suspect that other companyies like Sony PSP will follow suite. Great way to get started and promote/exposes your product networks and customers globaly.

What an amazing time we live in.

With all due respect, everyone here is already hip to the video iPod's existence. It'll be even cooler in the future generations when we get (at least) full-size SD video output.

Now then, if you want something more closely resembling a broadcast station (and you're on a Mac), then check this:

Oh...was there an older thread on the same topic? Well I was just sharing incase some diidn't realize the potential benefits as a indie producer of this distribution service and other coming like this.

it didnt say anything on that iPod site about selling your short films to be used on the video iPod unless I overlooked it...

You are correct that this post has a chicken little feel to it. I don't know if they will sell independent matterial but using the model that is in place with I tunes Why not.

Itunes sells all kinds of independent matterial so does yahoo infinite music.

Why not video courses and shows.

But again this is my conjecture.

MY research on this Apple distribution idea begins with an email response from Apple to my inquire as if I appling for a music app even though I specicifed video anyway reinforces that the process for distributing or selling video content will probably the same as marketing music. The concept of internet content sales is growing and is a great oppertunity to launch yourself.

If you haven't explored this avenue internet distribution try Amazon.com and yahoo.

I am just trying to contribute ideas to the community to hopefully everyone can make money.

From apple site:
"Thanks for your interest in the iTunes Music Store.
Please use this form to tell us more about the types of music you have to offer. We are evaluating hundreds of applications, so it may take longer than we'd like to get back to you. But don't worry - we will review your application and contact you if we are interested in including your music in the iTunes Music Store. We will also keep your application on file for future reference, so there's no need to submit it more than once.
This inquiry is intended solely for use by persons who either own or control a catalog of sound recordings for digital distribution, or are an authorized representative of someone who does."

This is all a LONG way from Broadcasting.

- Mikko

As "podcasting" is a long way from being a radio broadcast. The point is, when has anyone had this kind of opportunity before? If you can't see the forest for the trees, then that is your problem.

It may be a "LONG way" from broadcasting as we know it, but the definition of broadcasting is definitely changing.

I was doing some work for a large corporate client recently and had the chance to see some of the technology and services they were working on. It was incredibly eye opening. In the coming years broadcasting is going to change in the same way we've seen journalism change thanks to the web. Starting your own "broadcasting station" is going to be no more difficult that starting your own website now.

Terry's right... the opportunities are multiplying everyday.

My goal for now is to take my pilots (mostly instructional, ed) that are in production right now and make mini promo type versions for sale in ipod, psp or internet stream market as long as it is in a professional arene not among peoples cats doing back flips on home video camorder.

Hopefully have a tracking/feedback system to create a marketing portfolio to pitch it to a major DVD distributor so they can see how well it been acceptted on the internet front.

The fact that it can possible generate cash as well as publicity is a bonus.

If this fails then I could setup my own online DVD store for interest customers to buy the full versions or advanced versions online as well as exploring the webstream broadcast method.

Next year will be a State election year. I hope to be able to sell clients on utilizing podcasts and video podcasts (that I will create) to help get their message out.

Oops! I mentioned politics.

Oh dont' get me wrong, i'm not mockign the amazing possibileties all this new tech makes possible. I'm just saying that it needs it's own name.
It's like a book on CD would hardly be called "reading"

Our corporation is getting out of satellite broadcasting, and going to netcasting. We found a company that has a box, and it allows you to stream DVD quality images over broadband. This should let us get into foriegn countries, and Canada (ha) where the satellite footprint never made it to.

It's getting interesting...
