Want some more frame rates?

Hello,
Are there any new developments in the frame rate hack option? I did a search and this seems to be the main thread on the subject-
I'd like to set up my SD card to have the faster frame rates:
1 = 2fps
2 = 3fps
3 =4fps
4 = 6fps
5 = 8fps
6 = 10fps

I suppose I can either format a new card with either the standard scene files or Barry's book's scene files to be then modified(?)

Best regards,

Could you explain this: is it possible to get 24p out of the PAL HVX ? I thought this is not possible as well as 60 fps for the PAL Version ?

I dont know what Freudenberg intents here, but maybe its a late 1st of april joke..!
No real 24F in Pal, and 60f wount show up any day too..!

Yeah, Barry cleared this up earlier in this thread.

Once you have edited/mastered your footage in the native camera format (say 25p), there are ways to transcode (to say 23.976p) in software or through hardware/decks or via an experienced post facility.

yeah 24fps on a HVX202en is 23.976p. Barry stated this when he came to Brisbane last year. Mind you why would you want to shoot 24fps on a Pal camera unless your putting it onto 35mm. All film transfer places convert 25 to 24 anyhow.....

Mind you true 24 would be hot.

i dont know what i was thinking when i posted that comment.....

By the way has anyone had any problems with the frame rate Hack??????????

yeah since we're making wishes, how bout that super-slow 'lock-stock' slo-mo or the new discovery channel-style with the zebras getting mauled?

Thanks Barry for clearing that up,

Quick one have you had or heard of anyone having problems with there camera with the frame rate hack?

No, but there are a couple of frame rates that won't record properly to the cards; in my NTSC HVX I can't successfully record 25 or 27fps, both bring up a "P2 MICON ERROR" when I try to record. But the footage does go out the firewire port so I've used DV Rack to record it.

From what I have read so far you cant go over 60fps on a ntsc model and have that going through Dv rack is that correct?

Its a shame but it would be nice if a hybrid pal/ntsc HVX was put together to support 1fps up to 100fps. But then again Im very happy with my PAL HVX and even more happier that it can go below 12fps. chame that it wont go over 50fps though but then again Cheaper then buying a Varicam....

Barry, so you can record 25fps (pal) with DVRack. Can you do that with an fs100? Cuz I got a job that wants pal footage, and that would be mighty handy.

can someone confirm 25p on the NTSC version...

can someone confirm 25p on the NTSC version...

has anyone successfully altered the scene files on the NTSC version to shoot 25p?
I believe that usind the number "15" in the frame rate line of scene file code will do this...I did a search of this on the boards, but can't seem to find the info that I recall seeing before.
I heard that the camera might or might not record to P2 in 25p on the NTSC versions.
regards,
Eric

thanks for bumping this one. I was unaware. Has anyone caused damage to their camera using this unsupported feature?

Better yet, whose been using these new framerates with no problems to date?

Never had a single problem with it except one time, the first time i did it. i got a Micon Error. but thats easily remedies by just turnign the cmaera on and off. once that happens its fine. I cant live wihtout 2FPS.....

And the thing is, if you're shooting in the Native mode, a slower frame rate could give you even more runtime on a P2 card.

For example, if I just put one single solitary 4GB card in the camera, it'd be pretty cool if that single, solitary, lonely 4GB card could give me a runtime of, say, two hours.

Probably would look something like this:
4gbcard-123min.JPG

Of course, that would require a REALLY slow frame rate to do that.

Something like two frames per second.

I thought it might be fun to look back on an older posting. Just think, 1 year and 1 month later, we can have 4 times the amount: 123 x 4 = 492 minutes or 8.2 hours with a 16GB card!!!!

Now when 32GB cards come out, we can have 16.4 hours and the HVX-200 could be used as a security video camera.....:Drogar-BigGrin(DBG):D:grin:
