Wait a minute....Barry, did you say it can "STREAM" to a Laptop Hard Drive??
Let me be perfectly clear.....
CAN I --->Plug up a firewire cable OR usb2.0 cable to the HVX200 on one end and my Sony Vaio PC (or mac iBook) laptop computer on the other end, and then use a ??capturing-program?? to get a live image on my laptop screen....THen hit the "RECORD" button on the ??capturing-program?? to STREAM live DVCPROHD 4:2:2 100-megabitspersecond 1080p24 footage directly to my laptop computer continuously non-stop until the harddrive on my laptop is completely full????
Please tell me this is true! *smile*
Please say it is possible!
Please give me the name of the program that can do it!
C'mon....bless me with the good news...

The best news would be camera to--->off-the-shelf 2.5" external hard drive, but this is good news. I will be purchasing HDV Power Pak for DV Rack to do this with my Sony Z1U. But I'd like to know if this can be done with the HVX200. THis eliminates the P2 problems I have, because when I shoot, I have the camera tethered to a snake cable anyhow! Adding another cable won't make a difference! *smile*
