WA Adaptor for HVX372 Stock Lens

Hi people,

I have been searching around for a decent WA adaptor for the stock Fujinon 17x5.4 lens. I actually took a gamble & purchased a 16x9 Inc EX II 0.6X Wide Angle Adapter. I have returned it though as the pictures were extremely soft.

I have been considering the Red Eye .7x Aspheric HD WA adaptor instead. Just wondering if anyone has tried these out? I realise both these WA adaptors are non zoom through but I just need a quick, simple & light solution for the times when I need that bit extra in tighter spots.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Cheers,

Steve.

Well, the stock Fujinon on the 3xx cameras isn't exactly known for being sharp on the wide end, so throwing any WA adapter on there isn't going to help things along in the image quality department.

I have used a century precision adapter and have been happy with it. I'd also sell that adapter now that I have the Fuji wide angle zoom...

I have the 370 and got the .8x zoom thru century precision. The adapter is great, well made, increases the wide angle greatly and quick to take on and off.

Beware that if you get the century precision sunshade that is specifically made for that adapter, there is a slight vignetting problem. The sunshade is $375.00 and should not do this. The century precision tech support was no help as they wouldn't admit to the problem and said it was probably the Panasonic chip. I had to take a knife and cut off part of the edges of the sunshade to make it work right.

I have the Schneider x.08 too. Its a poor solution for the cost as it has much barrel distortion (curved lamp-posts syndrome). The separate lens hood is rubbish quality, looks terrible and is grossly overpriced - sent it back. I have a rubber hood gaffered to the adapter instead which looks and performs far better. Shame I had to bodge it though but its all a solution...

Mark - is the Fuji wide wider than the stock lens with a 0.8? Less barrel distortion and flare/bounce too?

Cheers
