Voting For Yourself?

It was mentioned in another thread that it was OK to vote for yourself. And it's assumed you would give your film a rating of 10 across the board.

This seems unfair for those submitting films who cannot vote. Remember, you only need 1 post to submit a film, but 100 to cast a vote. This allows those who submitted (and who can also vote) an unfair 'leg up' on the others (who cannot vote for themselves).

I don't mind submitters also voting, but it seems they should not be allowed to vote for themselves to keep the playing field level.

Considering the total number of votes, it really makes no difference, so i wouldn't worry about it. The overwhelming majority of filmmakers actually fairly rate their own abilities--even under rating them. A small number give themselves 10, but again, it won't really affect anything significantly.

If that is indeed true, why not discount self-votes then? At worst it would do (almost) nothing (for those who rate themselves fairly) and at best it would eliminate any harmful positive skews (due to those who rate themselves highly).

I did not give Pestilence a 10 in the Zombiefest (I gave it a 7 if I remember correctly). I gave a 10 to LAughing BLood.

I gave my zombie-fest flick a 10, and I gave John's a 1 for busting my chops.

I kid, I kid.

When I was waiting for the zombie-fest I was stuck at work... at least I'm at my pad this time.

Oooh, Lost is almost on. Come on briceman, let's take a brief haitus from this madness. John, you still watchin' lost, or did you give up on it?

I think it might be a tad late to change the voting system. Just a tad.
