Hi,

does any have the Voigtlander Nokton 40mm and use it with their GH1?

aside from the focal length, which would you rather have, the panny 20mm f1.7 or this Nokton. About the same price range.

is sharpness about same for both?

thx

I'd go for the 20mm. I have both. The AF for the 20mm wins me over. The Nokton is not bad, and is pretty fun to play with... but the AF with the 20mm is simply superb! There's also the issue of not-so-great edges with the Nokton, due to the well-documented problems RF lenses have on m4/3 cameras.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd just get the 20mm.

Hi chinkster,

thanks for the excellent info. that really helps a lot. I have a few rokkors
and having hit/miss issues with manual focus. My main concern was the focus
so 20mm it is then. The AF is much better than what I can do.

You're welcome!

But... the Nokton looks so nice on the GF1 :)

Hehehe...

they are fine jewels! looks great!

originally I wanted to get the GF1 w/20mm for size. debated for awhile
and settled on the GH1 because of the viewfinder, flexible lcd monitor
and the video features vs. GF1.

how bad are the edges with the nokton 40mm? so it's worst with the 35mm?

I also have the GH1 along with the GF1.

The Nokton I have is the SC version. I think you have to decide for yourself what works best for you: SC or MC.

How bad are the edges? You be the judge. :) (For me, I went with the 20/1.7 because MF gets old after a while and I really wanted AF).

Well, SOME folks are saying there's soft edges so I simply posted my photo for you all to judge for yourselves.

I finally went with the 20/1.7 because I wanted AF, as I was tired of MF all the time. I still break out the Nokton once in a while because it's fun to use... just not all the time. YMMV :)
