So I didn't watch the VMA's today. Apparently I should have.

But twitter/facebook/youtube/tmz/and perexhilton made up for it.

So tonight - Kanye West stormed the stage while Taylor Swift was making her acceptance speech for winning best female video.

Pink responds on Twitter:

Kanye west is the biggest piece of shi* on earth. Quote me.

Twitter and facebook light up.

Kanye is kicked out of the VMAs.

Youtube videos appear. TMZ finally catches up and publishes their own story.

Later, Beyonce calls Taylor Swift back up on stage to have her moment. Kanye responds:

poo poo YA'LL!! I don't gotta explain what I did tonight! Ya'll KNOW Beyonce had the best video and should have won! poo poo ya'll!

What the hell is going on with celebrities now-a-days?

And people wonder why I think Kanye is a waste of genetic material...

And I have to say, having just viewed both videos, Swift's was way better. Beyonce's was just her and two other dancers in leotards dancing. Nothing else. Swift's actually had something to do with the song.

...That's odd. CNN, reported he immediately apologized on his blog, after talking to Swift's mom.

Probably staged anyhow. Swift got back on stage in the end (coincidence Beyonce would be up there later and it all ends happily ever after?), and Kanye (including swift and MTV) got ridiculous amounts of publicity for the new album... not to mention MTV got their annual big shenanigan. Can you think of an MTV award show in the last decade which wasn't defined by a wild stunt, scandal, or shocking event? (think courtney love drunk, eminem and bruno, brit kissing Madonna, etc.)

I don't want to sound all conspiracy, but MTV music awards have the credibility of the Teen Choice Awards, the sobriety of P. Diddy's after party, and the sensationalist scandals of a TMZ story. For a station which has not really cared to air music videos in the last 10 years, this annual awards show is a joke. Plus, last I checked, they award best cinematography and best editing awards without the names of the cinematographer or editor... just the video name. Lame. If those guys don't get to accept their awards for their hard work, then I really don't care much that a famous multi-millioniare artist was interrupted by another famous multi-million dollar artist... over the fact another multi-million dollar artist didn't win. The whole thing is really silly. I enjoy Kanye's music and his audacity, no matter how rude, is entertaining. I would be very upset about this incident had I ever thought for a moment, Kanye wasn't simply playing the clown at the MTV Music Awards Circus. The big scandal last year was staged, so who's to say tonight wasn't? If it wasn't it still looks an aweful like MTV's recent MO, and furthermore defines the type of award ceremony this is.... it's not the Emmy's or CMA's.

End Rant.

PS: It's not like they even judge the videos anyhow. They just take the top 5 hit songs and choose one of those videos. There have been many many brilliant and original visionary videos for lesser artists and they NEVER get picked up by MTV.

End Rant. Part II

I agree. I sort of feel dumb even talking about it AT ALL, but that video is hilarious. I really just kept picturing him as a clown. Who cares, at all, in any way, about awards? And even more so that it's an MTV award? It's meaningless- in every single way conceivable. But because it was a 19 year old girl, for some reason it matters? HER FIRST VMA! OH NO! Grow up. Someone with a sense of humor would have been on the floor of the stage laughing at such bizarre antics at such a bizarre place. The whole thing is just part of the odd obsession with celebrity everyone has.

Part of me hates that he did that but another part of me kind of hates MTV in a way and gets a big kick out of his terrorizing them. His clique is Jay-Z and Beyonce so if someone wins against him or them you never know what's going to happen. You have to hold your breath and now people just wait for the Kanye melt down. It's like part of the show. He'll be back next time too because MTV knows it will be big publicity. Think about how many times he does things like this yet still keeps getting invited back. (I wonder did he pick up a pay check before he was tossed). He's becoming the villain people love to hate like wrestling heel.

In all honesty it's just BS to get people talking. I wouldn't be surprised if Swift and the whole lot of them aren't somewhere making googly eyes at each other right now. Swift should thank him because now she'll be made into somewhat of a hero for the next few days while everyone will hate West.

If I was a singer I'd pay West to interrupt and we'd get into a fight on stage or something, or I'd get in his face and we'll have another phony rap beef then make up once the money rolls in (remember the 50 Cent Game beef and how quickly that ended once the money was made). For him no publicity is bad publicity. Beyonce is the real winner as she comes out looking like a class act and Taylor comes out looking like the sweetest thing. I love showbiz.

I didn't read this before I posted but yea, you're on the right track. Half the couples in Hwood are fixed up by agents and managers. B and Jay-Z are hip-hop's power couple. Kayne is down with them.

I really don't think it was a PR stunt. I think it was a dude trying to be an ass and that's it.

Of course swift didn't respond on stage. What can you do at that point?

I think a 19 year old country singer winning a VMA for best female video is quite the accomplishment and should be able to have her moment. I'm sure if you won an academy award and someone hijacked your speech you wouldn't be saying "who cares".

I just found it "interesting", especially how quickly it spread online.

Swift could've said, "Kanye, are you off your meds again?" That right there would've done it for him and she would've been winner and champion. I would've said something like that at her age, especially knowing that he does this often enough to be an issue, but again I was a smart ass. All it takes is for someone to a). Not give him the microphone or b) Stand up to him. He's not tough and he's not going to hit you. He may be arrogant, but he doesn't seem to have any whit. And he'll come back again so the next morning all you'll hear about is the MTV awards just like, well, this thread.

And really, the Lady Ga Ga thing was interesting but all you're hearing about is West, Swift and Beyonce. And seriously, you notice he never does this to anyone who may whoop his @$$. Well, there's a reason for that. Would've been funny if Swift hauled off and decked him. It would've been so unexpected. Then Swift would get a contract with G-Unit and do Hip Hop Country joining the ranks of Kid Rock and Cowboy Troy, but cuter.

Well if it's not a PR stunt, you gotta give Beyoncé some credit for letting Taylor finish her speech.

I don't think it's a PR stunt, Kanye seemed a bit drunk and Taylor a bit speechless. Though I wouldn't all together be surprised if it was a stunt. I mean because of this and many many other incidents, the VMAs are known as the jerry springer show of music.

I mean every year it's something...

What else is new at the MTV Awards?

This is true and notice Kanye is never banned from MTV Awards shows, which would be the reasonable thing to do. If I won an award against him or any of his label mates I'd just be ready. Also, you mean NO ONE every sees him coming. Then later on Lil Mama jumps on stage with Jay-Z? Now that was funny.

In what world is a VMA an accomplishment? Let's be honest. MTV is a garbage heap, it was probably relevant at one point when people didn't realize it was just a big mass marketing gag.

But only someone with no sense of humor wouldn't laugh at such a bizarre incident. He literally just appeared on stage, yelled random things, shrugged, then disappeared. The SHRUG really made it. That's hilarious. He's a clown. People should laugh at this, and move on. I mean, that "BEYONCE HAD ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS OF ALL TIME!" soundbyte is comedy gold.

And if I won an Oscar, I wouldn't be there to accept it. I'd be sitting at home wondering what on Earth I did wrong.

I agree... and an Oscar is a lot more credible than an MTV VMA. But to a 19 year old kid, it was still a big deal, and that jackass ruined it for her.

He still got applause and cheers on Leno. I'm waiting for that Country-Hop album that I know will come from all this. Come on, a duet between Kayne and Taylor. It will sale millions.
