warriors of virtue is one my favorite movie. Did you any other vfx shots beside the one in the demo reel? Its been so long since i seen the movie. There was this part where the main bad guy fights the kangeroo's master. The badguy ends the fight when he pulls out his sword and swings. The swing echoes this kickass distortion effect and cuts the master in the face. I wonder if you did the vfx for that shot. If you did, can you explain how you did it? :) I been trying to duplicate that effect but I can't make it look right.
 
I did work on other shots but not the one you're asking about. Much of the effects were rig removal and enhancing the fight scenes with cool sparkes and flashes. The distortion effect was done with a displacement filter in Inferno. The source clip for the displacement was steel wool burning in a radial direction.
 
thanks. Awesome work on the reel btw. This inferno program, I can't seem to find a price for it online. It must be really expensive. How does After effects hold up to this program, or is it a completely different program.
 
Discreet Inferno. I remember reading that Inferno was priced over 500,000 dollars. Not sure exactly how much, but it's seriously that expensive.
 
Yup Inferno systems are just over $500,000 and then just as much for hardware which is SGI onyx mult-processor computers. Nowadays, I'm using Shake and Combustion.
