GH2 Visual Comparison : GH2 vs GH3

...I really like the layout of the GH3 controls. Finally a camera I can hold in one hand without accidentally pressing a button!
( I did my best to make the lens mount sizes match, so they cameras should be proportional to each other )

It's shocking to see a company actually make logical decisions regarding ergonomics. Kudos to Panasonic.

The GH3 looks very nice indeed.
Except one detail that caught my eye immediately - The new sensor isn't multi-aspect. Disappointing.

Sweetness- I really like what they changed ergonomically. It's no secret that this is one of the greatest 'secret' camcorders out there...

Agreed. The controls look almost perfectly laid out...can't wait to see more details, I'm liking the GH3 more and more :)

I'm I the only one hoping that the HDMI port is lower so that you can get a good angle on the LCD when connected to a monitor via HDMI. I don't think I've ever seen anyone mention that and I've always considered that a design flaw.

The left camera strap lug on the new GH3 body has been pushed forward quite a bit, so my guess is that the HDMI port has also been pushed forward, which should make it easier to adjust the LCD when it's fully extended.

A couple things I'm noticing...

- Only obvious internal mic is a wee wee thing on the back
- No big shiny "AVCHD" emblazoning... abandoned altogether? Can I still record at less than 50mbps?
- Flash sync! Whee!
- Fn4! Fn5! Whee!

AVCHD is indeed emblazoned on the inside of the LCD housing compartment. I saw it in another photo elsewhere, with the screen popped out.

Yeah, that doesn't look good. The GH2's built-in mics are quite suitable for a good chunk of the work I do. And while I love the use of proper 1/8" audio input and even an XLR adapter, I'd hate to see the internal mics go away on the GH3.

Yeah, you can see the two mic holes on the top picture, labelled "L" and "R". A little different than the GH2 setup but probably not that much difference in results. Like ATL said, maybe it was necessary for weatherproofing it, or some other design consideration.
