... got to hand-deliver his copy of The HVX Book!
Sort of a blog entry: Fascinating visit, got to tour WETA Workshops and met with Peter and some of his staff members to give them a one-on-one version of the HVX Training Seminar. Peter is incredibly gracious and very, very, very sharp -- an exceptionally intelligent man, and a nice, nice guy. He and Jabez and the rest of the staff were so pleasant to work with, and it was really delightful to see items from his collection, and of course various sculptings and props and costumes and armor and weapons and miniatures and such. I've had my share of props manufactured before, but nothing compares to what WETA craftsmen can do. It seems like an incredible place to work, reminds me of the magic we had back in the early days at Westwood Studios.
This trip has been amazing so far -- stood on the rim of a volcano, walked on the black sand beaches, saw live kiwis and an actual Bogen (aka "Westie") in its natural habitat, and now got to spend time with one of the premiere directors in the world, which is just too cool -- I mean, besides LOTR, this is the guy who directed "Dead Alive", for pete's sake!
New Zealand rules. It's an incredible place, full of wonderful, nice, kind people and breathtaking scenery, and I'm grateful I got a chance to come down here. Seminar tomorrow in Wellington is full, but if any NZ residents want to attend one, there are still a few seats available in the Wanaka seminar on Thursday.
