Vimeo/YouTube Compression

[rlkproductions]

Hey Guys,
I just got my A1 this week and wanted to see what the best settings were (using compressor) to compress HD video for YouTube and Vimeo.
Thanks!

[PaPa]

now with youtube's high quality option, i just keep the same settings i used ot use

wmv9, keep it at around CBR 1000kbs
quality:100

gave me this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6-koNcde7U

the watch in high quality is quite nice. otherwise, ya not so nice. would be curious to know what people use to get great quality right off the bat.

What about Compressor settings?

[Phil Kay]

For this http://www.vimeo.com/1204900 I used the following codec

MP4 basic
Data rate-3000kbs
1280x720HD
Current frame rate
key frame every 24 frames
Enable streaming

That was in final cut express, hope that helps.

[Noj]

Very nice job Phil, that was some excellent video. Bravo on the 4 hour job.

PaPa what program do you use, I tried your settings with Vegas 7 and the results are sh*te just like with Quicktime h.264. This youtube thing is driving me up the wall

[PaPa]

lol, i use premier pro cs3. then just use their encoding software, export as 720x480 at square pixel ratio. image quality 10 and bit rate at 1000kbs ( i think ) and presto!

[Rylan Zolinski]

I also tried rendering it as h.264 and the quality was AWFUL. It looked as bad or worse than a Youtube video...
